Edwards Exchange gives back through community events

Sisters Stephanie and Scarlett Powell pose with the Easter Bunny during an Edwards AFB’s Exchange Spring event.

The Army & Air Force Exchange Service serves the best customers in the world and by doing so that means understanding the local community and its needs.

The Exchange leadership realizes that being at stationed at Edwards Air Force Base can be rather isolating at times and the best way that they’ve found to serve the best customers in the world is to host Community Events here at the Edwards Exchange.

Sometimes, Exchange events are threefold as they include activities going on in both the Exchange Main Store and the Exchange Food Court. Other times they are strictly just hosted by the Food Court, like the quarterly Kids Craft Night Out or private organizations using Exchange facilities for their event.

For the Edwards Exchange Photo Shoot for the spring line of clothing, there were a total of 20 families and each child participant had their photo taken in one of our new spring line items and posted on a poster in the Children’s Department. The participants also received an in-store coupon for the items of clothing that they modeled for the Exchange.

Recently, the Exchange also hosted an Egg Hunt and Meet the Easter Bunny event. Shoppers were invited to bring their children to participate in the Egg Hunt and have their photo taken with the Easter Bunny. More than 100 families came and enjoyed the festivities.

One of the Exchange’s events was the Asian and Pacific Islander History Month Kick Off May 1. The Edwards Air Force Base Asian and Pacific Islander History Committee has coordinated dancers and music while the Exchange will be supporting with refreshments and cake.

The Exchange understands its need for the opportunity for community to be built in a remote location and hopes that with hosting events it will give not only the community something to do but also build the local community. We hope to see you at our next quarterly Kids Craft Night or large Exchange event.
