Education Center Office closure

The Education and Training offices will be closed 10:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., May 7. Webster University and Embry-Riddle University will remain open with normal business hours. Call (661) 277-2713 for more info.

New Hours for bowling center

The High Desert Lanes Bowling Center will now be open seven days a week! Starting May 1, the new hours of operation will be:
Sunday: Noon-7 p.m.
Monday: 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Tuesday: 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
Wednesday: 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 4-7 p.m.
Thursday: 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 4-7 p.m.
Friday: 11 a.m.-10 p.m.
Saturday: Noon-10 p.m.

Blood drive

The next American Red Cross Blood Drive at Edwards AFB is 10 a.m.-4 p.m., May 7 in the Chapel 1 Annex. Both walk-ins and appointments are accepted. To make an appointment you may contact the blood drive coordinator Senior Airman Joe Hernandez at joe.herndandez.8@us.af.mil.

Volunteers needed

Calling All Volunteers!†This year’s 2014 National Disability Employment Awareness Month is just around the corner in October and we are looking for motivated individuals to serve on various committees.†If you would like to be involved, contact the lead support officer, Senior Master Sgt. CCAF graduation

The Community College of the Air Force Graduation Ceremony is 2:30-4:30 p.m., May 7 at Club Muroc. The graduation ceremony will honor the October 2013 and the April 2014 CCAF classes and will also recognize enlisted Airmen who have completed their higher level degree from a civilian college.

Dress for the ceremony will be service dress for the graduates and for those participating in the ceremony. For all other military attendees dress will be the duty uniform of the day, and business casual for civilians.

Friends of AFRC meeting

There will be a meeting 2 p.m., May 7 in the Airman and Family Readiness Center to nominate officers for the Friends of Airman and Family Readiness Center private organization. For more information, call Staff Sgt. Dominque Rainey at (661) 275-2830.

Wingman Day

The next Wingman Day is May 5, and the main event will be held at 1 p.m. in the Base Theater.†Popcorn will be passed out before a viewing of a short film entitled “Falling In Love.”Live streaming will also be offered for those units who cannot be at the theater.

Emails have been sent to unit workflows and individual Wingman Day Reps on suggested presentations and activities for the morning session. The information and presentations are posted on the Edwards Portal and SharePoint.

Wingman Day is a way to get to know your Airmen. It is giving people a break to have face-to-face communication to build a foundation of trust, camaraderie and team spirit.

Federal survey

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management will soon launch their annual Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey “Employees Influencing Change” to Air Force civilians. The FEVS is scheduled to begin the week of May 5 and conclude June 13.†The survey period is expected to last six weeks. This is a unique opportunity for the civilian workforce to voice their opinions/concerns and provide the basis for positive change to the Air Force as an organization especially in these uncertain times of force reductions and constrained budgets.†Over the next few weeks, a random sample of Air Force permanent employees, full and part time, will have the opportunity to participate in the FEVS.†Each employee will receive an invitational email from OPM to participate in the FEVS. The FEVS is voluntary for any civilian employee who decides to participate.†The FEVS is strictly confidential and all results will go directly to OPM for tabulation.

Boy Scouts

Anyone interested in joining the Boy Scouts, there is troop that operates and meets on Edwards. Boy Scout Troop 247 membership consists of active duty, retired military, government civilians and contractors. The troop currently meets 5:30-7:30 p.m., Wednesdays at Chapel 2. Troop 247 runs an outdoor-oriented program for boys ages 11 through 17 with an emphasis on hiking and camping activities. TPS graduation

The U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School invites you to attend the graduation of Class 13B at 1 p.m., June 13 in the base theater.†Dress is uniform of the day for military guests and business casual for civilian guests. For graduates, and those involved in the ceremony, dress is service dress for military, business attire for civilians. All are welcome to attend.†Seating is limited to theater capacity.†The parking lot in front of the theater will be reserved for base commanders and directors, TPS faculty, TPS students and their families, and all those requiring handicapped parking.†General base attendees are asked to park in the lot across from Chapel 1 on the corner of Popson Ave. and Muroc Dr †Civilian personnel may attend without charge to leave; however, their attendance is subject to supervisory approval and workload considerations. Retirement

Tech. Sgt. Dustin P. Krueger: Team Edwards is cordially invited to attend a ceremony honoring Tech. Sgt. Dustin P. Krueger, 31st Test and Evaluation Squadron, on the occasion of his retirement from the United States Air Force. The Ceremony is 10 a.m., May 9 at the Edwards Conference Center Galaxy Room, Bldg. 5620 (now Airman and Family Readiness Center).†The attire is uniform of the day for military and smart casual for civilians.†POC for this event is Tech. Masters program

Cal Poly Pomona plans to start a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering program at the Lancaster University Center this Fall. Representatives from Cal Poly will be holding an Information session at the Conference Center (Airman and Family Readiness Center) in the Galaxy Room May 7 at noon. Those interested are welcome to drop by.
