End of Watch

An End of Watch Ceremony will be held 11 a.m., May 16 in front of Bldg. 1. The ceremony will officially close out National Police Week, which runs May 12-16.

AFOTEC Det. 5 Carwash

Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Squadron Det. 5′s booster club will be hosting a car wash 10 a.m.-2 p.m., May 16 at the High Desert Lanes Bowling Center. Donations will be accepted for car washes. For more information, call Tech. Sgt. Seth P. Lisenbee at (661) 277-6817.

Join the Edwards Singers!

The Edwards Singers is a choral group looking for new members. Their main responsibility is to perform the national anthem and other selections for base ceremonies and functions. The Edwards Singers are made up of both military and civilian singers who volunteer their time and talents for this endeavor. No previous singing experience is necessary, but certainly helpful. Rehearsals are 5-6:15 p.m., Tuesdays at Chapel 2.

Night at the Museum

Desert Senior Junior High School will hold its Second Annual Night at the Museum event May 21. Students and parents will be able to hang out with people from the 1920s; listen to a jazz band; learn about the French Revolution; see the execution of Louis XVI by guillotine; witness trench warfare and the crash of the stock market; and more! Students must submit their topics by May 12. Project set up begins at 4:45 p.m., May 21. Parent volunteers are needed. If interested email Shawn Lawhon at slawhon@muroc.k12.ca.us. Night at the Museum will go until 7:30 p.m.

Federal survey

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management will soon launch their annual Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey “Employees Influencing Change” to Air Force civilians. The FEVS is scheduled to begin the week of May 5 and conclude June 13.†The survey period is expected to last six weeks. This is a unique opportunity for the civilian workforce to voice their opinions/concerns and provide the basis for positive change to the Air Force as an organization especially in these uncertain times of force reductions and constrained budgets.†Over the next few weeks, a random sample of Air Force permanent employees, full and part time, will have the opportunity to participate in the FEVS.†Each employee will receive an invitational email from OPM to participate in the FEVS. The FEVS is voluntary for any civilian employee who decides to participate.†The FEVS is strictly confidential and all results will go directly to OPM for tabulation.

TPS graduation

The U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School invites you to attend the graduation of Class 13B at 1 p.m., June 13 in the base theater.†Dress is uniform of the day for military guests and business casual for civilian guests. For graduates, and those involved in the ceremony, dress is service dress for military, business attire for civilians. All are welcome to attend. Seating is limited to theater capacity.†The parking lot in front of the theater will be reserved for base commanders and directors, TPS faculty, TPS students and their families, and all those requiring handicapped parking.†General base attendees are asked to park in the lot across from Chapel 1 on the corner of Popson Ave. and Muroc Drive. Civilian personnel may attend without charge to leave; however, their attendance is subject to supervisory approval and workload considerations. If planning to attend, RSVP by May 19. Retirement

Charles J. Amantia Jr: Team Edwards is cordially invited to attend a retirement ceremony honoring Charles J. Amantia Jr. of the 412th Maintenance Squadron Propulsion Flight. He is retiring after 20-plus years of federal civil service for the Air Force. The ceremony is 1 p.m., May 30 on the mezzanine in Bldg. 3810. Master Sgt. Thomas Martin: Master Sgt. Thomas M. Martin, 31st Test and Evaluation Squadron, is retiring after 22 years of dedicated service. His retirement ceremony is 1-4 p.m., May 21 at the Edwards Air Force Flight Test Museum. A small reception to follow afterwards. No RSVP is necessary. For more information, call Tech. Sgt. Tech. Sgt. Nicholas Lage: Team Edwards is invited to attend Tech. Sgt. Nicholas Lage’s retirement ceremony. Lage is assigned to the 412th Maintenance Group Quality Assurance. The ceremony will is 2 p.m., May 29 at the Air Force Flight Test Museum. For more information, call (661) 277-2760.

Julian L. Loh May: You are cordially invited to attend a luncheon honoring Julian L. Loh of the 773rd Flight Systems Integration Squadron, Structures Flight, on the occasion of his retirement after 32-plus years of federal civil service and 20-plus years in the U.S. Air Force. Masters program

Cal Poly Pomona plans to start a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering program at the Lancaster University Center this Fall. Representatives from Cal Poly will be holding an Information session at the Conference Center (Airman and Family Readiness Center) in the Galaxy Room May 7 at noon. Those interested are welcome to drop by.
