Scorpion Robotics, Odyssey of the Mind, need you

As members of the Scorpion Robotics club operate the controls, Brig. Gen. Michael T. Brewer, 412th Test Wing commander, watches the club’s Scoop Da Whoop robot scoop up blocks and load them into boxes at the Center of Excellence. Both the Scorpion Robotics and Odyssey of the Minds clubs held an open house. Both are looking for coaches, volunteers and mentors.

The Scorpion Robotics and Odyssey of the Mind teams held an open house at the Center of Excellence May 13. Both clubs are looking for volunteers, mentors and coaches.

Thanks to the efforts of the coaches and volunteers, along with the children’s hard work, the Scorpion Robotics program won 2 local qualifying tournaments and were finalists at the Los Angeles Regional Tournament. They continued to advance to the Western United States Super-Regional Tournament  where the entrants made up the top 8 percent of all teams.

If you’re interested in helping out either Scorpion Robotics and/or Odyssey of the Minds, email contact Andrew Whitten at andrew.whitten@us.af.mil; or you can call (661) 277-9248.
