Fun Run/Walk

The Health and Wellness Center is hosting a Critical Days of Summer fun run/walk event June 11. There will be three distances:† 5K, 7.5K and 10K and the start time is 7:30 a.m. at the Rosburg Fitness Center parking lot. This is a FREE event and is open to runners and walkers of all levels. Correction

On Page 1 of the May 30 edition of Desert Wings, the two Royal Air Force aircraft flying with the F-35 were mis-identified as Tornados. They are, in fact, Eurofighter Typhoons. We regret the error.

Changes of command

  • Brigadier General Michael T. Brewer, 412th Test Wing commander, invites you to attend a change of command ceremony June 11 where Lt. Col. Trevor L. Williams will relinquish command of the 412th Comptroller Squadron to Lt. Col. Michael F. McPherson. The ceremony will take place at 9 a.m. at Club Muroc. R.S.V.P. by June 4.   • Col. Rodney F. Todaro, 412th Operations Group commander, is inviting Team Edwards to attend the 412th Operations Support Squadron change of command ceremony June 27. Lt. Col. Jeffrey T. Geraghty will assume command from Lt. Col. Ryan K. Osteroos. The ceremony will be at 9 a.m. in Bldg. 1202. R.S.V.P. to Larinda Sanders at (661) 277-9831/2446. Uniform of the day for military and business casual for civilians.

Resilience training

The next Resilience class is 7:30 a.m., June 18 in Bldg 2560, Room A. Those attending should call Nancy Koch-Castillo at (661)277-6711 or email nancy.kochcastillo.1@us.af.mil. Resilience information as well as the Wingman Day “Falling In Love” videos are posted on the Edwards Portal in the middle of the page. If you click on the Helping Agency ICON you will find information to include a resilience folder with all the PowerPoint presentations posted.

Join the Edwards Singers!

The Edwards Singers is a choral group looking for new members. Their main responsibility is to perform the national anthem and other selections for base ceremonies and functions. The Edwards Singers are made up of both military and civilian singers who volunteer their time and talents for this endeavor. No previous singing experience is necessary, but certainly helpful. Rehearsals are 5-6:15 p.m., Tuesdays at Chapel 2.

Calling All Volunteers!†This year’s 2014 National Disability Employment Awareness Month is just around the corner in October and we are looking for motivated individuals to serve on various committees.†If you would like to be involved, contact the lead support officer, Senior Master Sgt. Federal survey

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management will soon launch their annual Federal Employee Viewpoint Survey “Employees Influencing Change” to Air Force civilians. The FEVS is scheduled to conclude June 13.†The survey period is expected to last six weeks. This is a unique opportunity for the civilian workforce to voice their opinions/concerns and provide the basis for positive change to the Air Force as an organization especially in these uncertain times of force reductions and constrained budgets.†Over the next few weeks, a random sample of Air Force permanent employees, full and part time, will have the opportunity to participate in the FEVS.†Each employee will receive an invitational email from OPM to participate in the FEVS. The FEVS is voluntary for any civilian employee who decides to participate.†The FEVS is strictly confidential and all results will go directly to OPM for tabulation.

TPS graduation

The U.S. Air Force Test Pilot School invites you to attend the graduation of Class 13B at 1 p.m., June 13 in the base theater.†Dress is uniform of the day for military guests and business casual for civilian guests. For graduates, and those involved in the ceremony, dress is service dress for military, business attire for civilians. All are welcome to attend.†Seating is limited to theater capacity.†The parking lot in front of the theater will be reserved for base commanders and directors, TPS faculty, TPS students and their families, and all those requiring handicapped parking.†General base attendees are asked to park in the lot across from Chapel 1 on the corner of Popson Ave. and Muroc Drive. Civilian personnel may attend without charge to leave; however, their attendance is subject to supervisory approval and workload considerations. Retirement

James Pletcher: You are cordially invited to attend the retirement ceremony and luncheon honoring James A. Pletcher of the 412th Civil Engineer Directorate on the occasion of his retirement after 31 years of federal civil service.†The ceremony and luncheon is noon, June 10 at the Chapel 1 Annex. Lunch will be catered by Domingo’s. Tickets cost $15 per person, payable in advance via cash. The attire is uniform of the day for military and business casual for civilians. R.S.V.P. by June 6. Farewell dinner

The 412th Test Wing invites you and a guest to attend a farewell dinner honoring Col. Keith Donaldson, 412th Medical Group commander. The dinner will be June 16 at Club Muroc. The social begins at 5:30 p.m. with dinner being served at 6. The menu is Smoking K’s BBQ buffet with brisket, chicken, pulled pork, sides and dessert. Cost is $22 for club members and $24 for non-club members. Payment by club card can be made in advance with R.S.V.P. or cash at the door. Dress is blue jeans casual for all.
