Blood drive

The next American Red Cross Blood Drive at Edwards is 10 a.m.-4 p.m., July 2 in the Chapel 1 Annex. Both walk-ins and appointments are accepted. To make an appointment, contact the blood drive coordinators, Senior Airman Joe Hernandez at joe.hernandez@edwards.af.mil Senior Airman Sarah Bird at sarah.bird.2@us.af.mil. You can also self-book online at the American Red Cross website www.redcrossblood.org/make-donation using sponsor code: “Chapel1.”

Motorcycle Advanced Rider Course

An additional motorcycle Advanced Rider Course has been scheduled for July 9. Military and DOD civilians may register for this course however military will be given priority when registration approval takes place.†You will receive a confirmation email if you are approved.†Per AFI 91-207, Table 4.1., this course is mandatory for military riders who have taken the Basic Rider Course.†Although the class is geared towards the sport bike rider, it is open to all two-wheeled riders. Seats are limited to 12 students on a first-come-first-serve basis.†You must self-register to attend through the Cape Fox Website at
www.capefoxtraining.com/registration/index/25. It is a one-day, 8-hour course designed to enhance performance capabilities related to cornering, braking and hazard avoidance. You must have your own bike, PPE and have completed the Basic Rider Course.†Bring water to hydrate yourself. Civilians must take leave, with supervisor’s approval when attending this course. Retirement

Master Sgt. Kelly S. Carr: Col. Robert A. Hoff, 412th Mission Support Group commander, invites everyone to a retirement ceremony honoring Master Sgt. Kelly S. Carr, 412th Logistics Readiness Squadron, Installation Deployment Cell superintendent. The ceremony will be held at the Air Force Flight Test Museum at 9:30 a.m., July 8. Please R.S.V.P. by July 3. Tech. Sgt. Melissa A. Collins-Gonzalez: The retirement ceremony for Tech. Sgt. Melissa A. Collins-Gonzalez is now 11:30 a.m., June 27 at the Air Force Flight Test Museum, Bldg. 5925. It was previously scheduled for 11 a.m. A heart healthy lunch including deli sandwiches, soup, vegetables, fruit drinks and water will be available. Farewell luncheon

Club Muroc will host a farewell luncheon for Col. Robert Hoff, 412th Mission Support Group commander 11 a.m., July 8. Cost is $13.60 for members and $15.60 for non-members. Menu is fried chicken, baked chicken, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, collard greens, corn, corn bread, apple or peach cobbler and coffee. Airman’s Attic

The Airman’s Attic is in need of volunteers. †Any time that you can give to assist would be greatly appreciated. Stop by the Airman’s Attic Tuesday and Thursday between 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Wednesday 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Change of command

Col. Rodney F. Todaro, 412th Operations Group commander, is inviting Team Edwards to attend the 412th Operations Support Squadron change of command ceremony June 27. Lt. Col. Jeffrey T. Geraghty will assume command from Lt. Col. Ryan K. Osteroos. The ceremony will be at 9 a.m. in Bldg. 1202. R.S.V.P. to Larinda Sanders at (661) 277-9831/2446. Freedom Fest 2014

This year’s Freedom Fest celebration is 4:30-10 p.m., July 4 at Wings and Roberts Fields. Fireworks start at 9:30 p.m. Come out and enjoy live bands, water fun and more. The event is free and open to the entire Edwards AFB Community.
