Mandatory Chief’s Panel
The Chief’s Panel (enlisted call) is scheduled for Oct. 5. The 412th Test Wing command chief along with four group chiefs will be hosting the Chief’s Panel at the base theater at 10 a.m. and again at 1:30 p.m. The Chief’s Panel will give Airmen their perspective on the new Enlisted Evaluation System. They will also open up the floor for discussion and end with a question and answer session. This Chief’s Panel is MANDATORY for ALL enlisted personnel stationed at Edwards AFB. You do not want to miss the opportunity to provide feedback and ask questions to the base’s top enlisted leadership. Officers, civilians and DOD contractors are welcome to attend. Blood drive volunteers
The American Red Cross is looking for dedicated volunteers for the upcoming Oct. 7 blood drive. Being a volunteer at Red Cross blood drives not only looks good on award packages but it truly is a great way to give back to the community. If you’re willing to help with this drive or any future drives that take place on the first Wednesday of every month, contact Staff Sgt. Rosburg Fitness Center access now 24/7
Twenty-four/seven access to the main fitness area and the free-weight tent of the Rosburg Fitness Center began Sept. 19. Access will be available to active duty personnel, their dependents who are 18 and over, retirees and DOD civilians. Be advised, personnel under the age of 18 are not authorized access after hours with the exception of active duty Airmen who must be 17 years or older.
Eligible personnel may stop by the fitness center starting to complete orientation, review and sign the statement of understanding, and get their access cards issued/registered for 24/7 access. For active duty and DOD Civilians, access will be coded on their government-issued IDs.
Dependents and retirees will be issued an access card free of charge; subsequent replacement cards can be purchased for $5.

Town hall meeting
The next town hall meeting will be 5-7 p.m., Nov. 4 at the Airman and Family Readiness Center. Everyone in the Edwards community is welcome to attend. Some topics will include upcoming events, changes in hours at the fitness center, Corvias Housing information and base schools updates. There will also be briefings by the 412th Security Forces Squadron on traffic and curfew rules.
Flu vaccine
The 412th Medical Group Immunizations Clinic is now providing the 2015-16 influenza vaccine to high risk patients, health care workers, first responders (security forces and fire fighters) and deploying personnel. If you are not a Tricare beneficiary, the 412th MDG can provide the vaccine only if it is a requirement for employment. High risk patients are defined as people that are more likely to get flu complications resulting in hospitalization or worse. High risk patients include adults 65 years of age and older, pregnant women and people with medical conditions such asthma, neurological disorders, chronic lung disease, heart disease, blood disorders and/or weakened immune systems. At this time, the medical group has not received the nasal formulation (Flumist), but we are expecting it to be available in October. The injectable influenza vaccine for patients that are three years and older that are not able to receive the nasal mist. More information will be released with updates. Edwards First Sergeants seeking volunteers
Have you wanted to scare someone? Hiding in the shadows and waiting for the perfect time to jump? The Edwards First Sergeant council is looking for motivated individuals to provide scares from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1 at the old Shoppette. This year we will be having six rooms of horror designed and operated by a group, squadron or organization. That means you get to design your own original room of horror! If you are part of a squadron or organization and would like volunteer, please send me an email to reserve a room. The guests will vote on what room is the scariest and the winning room will receive a prize. The rooms will be given away on a first come first serve basis. Once you have reserved a room you will receive an email telling you when you can start turning it into the gruesome scene that you wish it to be.

Retirement
