March 16, 1976 — The F-16 control-configured vehicle flight test program began. The first prototype F-16 had been fitted with a pair of canards and an auxiliary flight control computer. The CCV program explored the use of non-conventional flight modes to enhance the operational capabilities of modern high-performance fighters.
