The 309th Maintenance Support Group at Hill Air Force Base, Utah, has a long history of building items, ranging from wooden office doors to splash molds that detect aircraft cracks. New technology is adding Rapid Prototyping, often referred to as 3-D printing, to the mix.

Edwards has three large desert areas designated for recreational use on base, two of them for off-road motorized vehicles. People who use those areas are required to carry proof of desert tortoise training to avoid a citation.
