General Myer Elementary School

The General Myer Library recently finished their annual Spring Book Fair. Ms. Hamric and Mrs. Ferris hosted a Book Fair Luau Family Night Event on Feb. 23, and the school staff gives a special ‘thank you’ to the choir and band for performing. The staff thanks all students and parents for making the luau a success. More than 500 people attended.

The library hosted their annual Read Across America Celebration on Friday. Students spent the day reading and being read to. Myer School will also support Accelerated Readers, “Read the Most from Coast to Coast,” and will join students from all over the world to see if the combined group can beat the record of 2,177,586 quizzes taken last year.

This year’s annual science exhibition provided nearly 250 science projects from all areas of life “” physical, and earth science. Students investigated subjects ranging from the strongest bridge construction to the generation of electricity from citrus fruits to the effectiveness of various cleaning products. During Family Night, students showed off their projects to their families, and projects were displayed up and down school hallways. These budding scientists learned that curiosity is just the door to lifelong learning.
