Tax filing deadline is fast approaching!

Those who have not filed their taxes should not panic “” there is still time.

Due to the observance of Emancipation Day, the filing deadline is extended to April 17. The Tax Assistance Center is open Monday ““Friday, 8:30 a.m. ““ to 4 p.m. by appointment only. Walk-in hours are Tuesday and Thursday, 8:30 a.m. ““12:30 p.m. The center also has extended hours on Thursday, 8:30 a.m. ““ 8 p.m.

To facilitate procrastinators, the tax center will be open April 14, 11 a.m. ““ 3 p.m., by appointment only.

To date, the Tax Assistance Center staff has serviced 954 servicemembers, dependents and retirees. TAC personnel have saved the Fort Huachuca community $216, 000 in tax preparation fees and returned $2.25 million of excess tax withholdings and credits to Soldiers and their families.

Those who would like to take advantage of this free service should call 533.1040 to schedule an appointment today. Those who cannot make it into the tax center can file taxes online for free by entering “Military One Source” in their search engines.
