Jazz, wine festival set for Saturday

FMWR will present “An Evening on the Green” Jazz and Wine Festival Saturday, 4 – 9 p.m. near the Gazebo on Brown Parade Field.

Music will be provided by the 62nd Army Band Jazz Combo and the 62nd Army Band Jazz Trio, followed by two shows from soulful jazz saxophonist “Yancyy.”

Admission and wine and beer tasting are free. Bottles of wine, food and beer will be available to purchase.

MVGC offers golf special for moms

Celebrate Mother’s Day Friday – Sunday at Mountain View Golf Course with the Mom and Me Golf Event. The cost is $25 for mother and child, and includes golf fees for 9 holes, rental club fees (if needed), range balls, cart fee and lunch.

Take mom bowling on Mother’s Day

From noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Mother’s Day, Desert Lanes will offer $1 games and free shoe rental to all moms.

Mother’s Day brunch buffet set for Sunday

Everyone is invited to enjoy Thunder Mountain Activity Centre’s Mother’s Day Brunch Buffet from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sunday. The buffet will feature several gourmet entrees, side dishes and desserts.

Cost, with gratuity included, is $25 for adults; $12.50 for children 5 – 11; and children 4 and under dine for free. The price includes a carnation for all moms.

Register for indoor triathlon

Sports, Fitness and Aquatics will host the “1st Time Tri” Indoor Triathlon May 19 beginning at 8 a.m. at Barnes Field House. The triathlon is open to all levels and will consist of swim in the indoor pool, spin bike and a run on the track.

Entrants can register at BFH or Eifler Fitness Center. Entry deadline is Tuesday. Race-day registrations will not be accepted.

Register youth for summer activities

Registration for the SKIESUnlimited “Exploring Summer Fun” programs is going on now for all classes.

Classes include: horse camp, arts and crafts camps, piano camp, learn-to-swim, a babysitter course, including first aid and CPR, learn to sew, gymnastics camp, cheerleading camp, plus academic classes such as creative writing, college prep writing, and examining literature through film.

Don’t miss Right Arm Night

The next Right Arm Night will start at 4 p.m. May 18 at Thunder Mountain Activity Centre. Free finger foods and a pay-as-you-go bar will be available.

MWR will offer free services

May 19, Family and MWR facilities will observe Armed Forces Day by offering free services to all active duty and retired military at the following: Mountain View Golf Course (533.7088), Buffalo Corral (533.5220), Desert Lanes (533.2849), Jeannie’s Diner (533.5759), the Sportsman’s Center (533.7085), The RAP (335.3058 or 335.3209) and the Arts & Crafts Center (533.2015 or 533.5550).

All free services will be limited to available time and space, so reservations are recommended. For more information, call the individual facilities.

 

Mystery Run to be held May 26

The Strong B.A.N.D.S. 10K Mystery Run will be held May 26, 7 a.m. at Barnes Field House.

Registration forms can be picked-up at Barnes Field House and Eifler Fitness Center. Runners can also register at www.active.com. The entry deadline is May 23.
