April Civilian of the Month: Linda Tanner

Agency: CECOM Communications Security Logistics Activity, Mission Support Division, Mission Systems Support Branch

Position and duties: Computer specialist/information assurance officer

How long at current assignment:  23 years

How long in government service: 23 years

Residence: Sierra Vista

Family: Husband, Doug Smith
“I met my husband at CSLA, and we have been married 19 years. He started [working] here at about the same time as I did.”

Hobbies: Dog training or anything to do with dogs. Has helped with City of Sierra Vista dog obedience classes for 15 years. Also enjoys freshwater fishing at Patagonia or Roosevelt Lakes.

Accomplishments: “I enjoy having this much fun at the job after 23 years, solving problems and working with people. It makes it a whole lot easier if you are having fun and enjoying the people you work with.“

Advice: “If you get a dog, make sure you make the time to spend with them to do anything — walk, run, play.“

Other comments: “Civilian of the month came as a complete surprise, but it’s a wonderful honor. I was speechless! I had absolutely no idea!”
