Steve Gregory, museum technician at the Fort Huachuca Museum, dressed in an 1880s cavalry uniform with pith helmet, gives a heliograph demonstration to a group of Signal Corps command sergeants major during Signal Week, which was celebrated on Fort Huachuca June 11 through Friday. Heliographs were used during the 1880s in the southwest for signaling by flashing rays of light from one point to another using a code similar to Morse code.
