Women veterans license plate available

The new Arizona women veterans special license plate is now available to those wishing to purchase online at servicearizona.com. It is also available at all Arizona Department of Motor Vehicle offices.

The new plate was created last session by the Arizona Legislature in House Bill 2656.

Sierra Vista announces street closure

A portion of Avenida del Sol between State Route 90 and Camino del Norte is closed for approximately two to three weeks for extensive road improvements. These will involve the complete removal and replacement of the existing pavement.

Garrison leadership to change

The United States Army Garrison commander, Fort Huachuca is departing at the end of June. USAG will conduct a change-of-command ceremony between Col. Timothy Faulkner (outgoing commander) and Col. Daniel McFarland (incoming commander) on Tuesday, 7:30 a.m. on Brown Parade Field. This event is open to the general public.

Motorists should expect disruptions in traffic and road closures around the parade field during rehearsals and during the ceremony and should plan accordingly.

 

Ammo Supply Point to hold inventory

The Ammo Supply Point will be closed for quarterly inventory Wednesday – June 29.

Ellis Auditorium Memorialization set

Join the staff of the Human Intelligence (HUMINT) Training Joint Center of Excellence at a ceremony on Wednesday, 10 a.m. in Matlack Hall, as they memorialize an auditorium in honor of the late Brig. Gen. Richard Ellis.

 

Assist with Vacation Bible School

HT-JCOE to welcome new commander

The HUMINT Training Joint Center of Excellence will conduct the change-of-command and retirement ceremony for Col. John Szypko, HT-JCOE outgoing commander, on June 28, 8 – 9 a.m. on Brown Parade Field. HT-JCOE will also welcome the incoming commander, Col. John Boucher.

The public is invited.

Motorists should expect disruptions in the flow of traffic around the parade field on the morning of the event and plan accordingly.

 

NETCOM conducts departure ceremony

Members of the Network Enterprise Technology Command will bid farewell to Brig. Gen Frederick Henry, deputy commanding general, in a retreat ceremony, June 28 at 4 p.m. The ceremony will be held in front of Greely Hall on Fort Huachuca.

The disabled and executive parking areas in front of Greely Hall will be closed off at the beginning of the day. All employees are requested to turn off car alarms prior to the ceremony.

Additionally, employees departing Greely Hall and employees with loud motorcycles will be delayed for several minutes during the ceremony when honors are rendered and during Retreat.

Henry was chosen to become the chief of staff for the Defense Information Systems Agency. Henry arrived in his current position Aug. 20, 2010.

 

Public invited to join MI Corps run

Maj. Gen. Gregg Potter, commanding general, U.S. Army Intelligence Center of Excellence and Fort Huachuca, and his staff will lead the Military Intelligence Corps on a four-mile run on June 29 starting and ending at Warrior/Sentinel Field. All Friends of the MI Corps are invited to join the run and help celebrate MI’s 25/50th anniversaries.

The group will form up at 5:30 a.m., and the run will begin exactly at 6 a.m. There will be an optional turn-around at the one-mile point for civilian runners.

 

MI Soldier Heritage Walkway dedication set

The public is invited to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the MI Corps and the 50th Anniversary of the MI Branch at a Corps Founder Recognition Ceremony and Heritage Walkway Ribbon-Cutting on June 29, at 9 a.m. The walkway is located between Prosser Village and Rowe Hall, and parking is available at Friedman Hall, Rowe Hall and Sherr Barracks (next to the Air Park).

Refreshments will be served at the end of the walkway.

 

Attend free Eagles tribute concert

Eagles tribute band, “Hotel California,” will perform a free concert, open to the public, on June 29, at 7 p.m. at Bujalski Field (next to Barnes Field House) as the concluding event of the celebration of the Military Intelligence Corps’ 25th/50th anniversaries.

Refreshments will be available for purchase.

 

B Troop to hold riding school

B Troop, 4th U.S. Cavalry (Memorial) is recruiting riders for the next Cavalry Riding School beginning on July 3. For an application, contact the program coordinator at 538.2178 or usarmy.huachuca.imcom-west.mail.hua-btroop@mail.mil.

111th MI Bde. to gain new commander

The 111th Military Intelligence Brigade will conduct a change of command ceremony between Col. Angelia Farnell (outgoing) and Col. Richard Monnard (incoming) on July 13, 7:30 a.m. on Chaffee Parade Field. The public is invited.

Motorists should expect disruptions in the flow of traffic around Chaffee Parade Field on the morning of the event and a few days beforehand during rehearsals and plan accordingly. Some traffic will be rerouted. Use of the Main Gate is recommended.

 

Free vendor booth space offered

Mountain Vista Communities is looking for vendors to set up a free booth outdoors at the 2nd Annual Summer Bash July 14, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the MVC Community Center, 102 Davis. It is open to all military and their families. The Summer Bash will include free face painting, jumping castles, food for purchase, children’s activities, contests and raffles.

Retirement ceremony announced

Fort Huachuca will host the Quarterly Installation Retirement Ceremony on July 20, 7:30 a.m. on Brown Parade Field to honor the installation’s military and civilian retirees for their service to Fort Huachuca, the United States military and the Nation. The public is invited.

Motorists should expect disruptions in the flow of traffic during rehearsals and on the morning of the ceremony.

 

JITC to hold assumption of command ceremony

The Joint Interoperability Test Command will conduct their assumption of command ceremony for Col. Douglas Orsi, incoming JITC commander, July 24, 9 a.m. at JITC headquarters, Building 57305. Orsi will assume command from George Brock, interim commander.
