In 2009, the President established the Securing Americans Value and Efficiency Award to seek cost-cutting ideas directly from federal employees. Over the past three years federal employees have submitted more than 75,000 ideas, and those ideas are having an impact. Already, agencies are saving hundreds of millions of dollars, rooting out redundancy and waste, and making government more efficient, effective and accountable to the American people.
This yearâ€™s SAVE Award will run through July 24, and one winner will have the opportunity to present his or her idea to President Barak Obama. The deputy secretary of defense endorses the program and encourages federal employees to submit their innovative ideas at http://www.whitehouse.gov/saveaward.
