Theater company holds auditions

The Illegitimate Theater Company, Inc. will conduct auditions for their upcoming fall production of Joseph Kesselring’s “Arsenic and Old Lace.” Auditions will be held at Murr Community Center, Fort Huachuca tonight, Saturday and Sunday. All auditions will be at 6 p.m. except for Saturday which will be held at 2 p.m. The show requires 11 males and 3 females.

Youth Fun Day set

A free Youth Fun Day will be held at Bisbee’s Warren Ballpark Saturday, from 3 – 9 p.m. Families are invited, and there is no cost. Enjoy a variety of booths and activities.

Run around the park

The City’s Leisure & Library Services invites the public to the summer 5K Run Around the Park, Saturday at 7 a.m. The cost for the race is $20 the day of the race. A $1 discount will be given to members of the Thunder Mountain Running Club.

Runners who pre-register will receive a race T-shirt. First, second and third place individual awards will be presented in eight male and female age divisions. The race starts and ends in the parking lot at Apache Middle School. Register at The Cove, Oscar Yrun Community Center or Ethel Berger Center.

Miss Sierra Vista pageant tickets on sale

Tickets are now on sale for the 2012 Miss Sierra Vista Scholarship Pageant which takes place 7 p.m., Saturday, at the Buena Performing Arts Center, 5225 Buena School Blvd., Sierra Vista.

The theme for this year’s show is “Luck be a Lady – The Songs of Sinatra.”

Tickets are available at the National Bank of Arizona, 1160 E. Fry Blvd., and are $15 in advance, $18 at the door.

All seats are reserved.

 

Garlic festival announced

Triangle T Historic Guest Ranch will host the 3rd Annual Garlic Festival, Saturday and Sunday at 4190 Dragoon Rd., Dragoon.

There will be a farmers market, face painting, magic demonstrations, old west re-enactments, live music, cooking contest and garlic cooking demonstrations

Get school backpacks blessed

Families are invited to attend Community/Backpack Sunday hosted by Sierra Evangelical Lutheran Church, 101 N. Lenzner, Sierra Vista.

On Aug. 5, at their 8 and 10:30 a.m. church services, there will be a blessing of the backpacks. Students and teachers should bring backpacks to the services, to celebrate the beginning of a new school year with prayer, games and food.

Activities begin at 9:15 a.m., and include games and a continental breakfast. There will be tricycle races, face painting, Bible trivia and a scavenger hunt for school supplies. Approximately 215 backpacks filled with school supplies will be given to local schools that identify children in need.
