U of A Football returns to Fort Huachuca

The University of Arizona Wildcat Football Team will hold pre-season practice at Fort Huachuca. The practices are free and open to the public.

Practices are set for: today at 8:15 a.m. and 6 p.m.; tomorrow at 8 a.m.; and Saturday at 8:30 a.m., all at Warrior/Sentinel Field near Eifler Fitness Center; and Saturday at 5:30 p.m. (scrimmage) at Bujalski Field near Barnes Field House.

Play ‘Minute to Win It’ at Murr CC

Murr Community Center will host a “Minute to Win It” game night starting at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 17. Patrons 18 and older are welcome. A pay-as-you-go beer bar will be available.

Soldier Show set for August 19, 20

The 2012 U.S. Army Soldier Show will be presented Aug. 19 at 2 at 7 p.m. and Aug. 20 at 7 p.m., at the Buena Performing Arts Center, 5225 Buena School Blvd., Sierra Vista.

The Soldier Show is a high-energy 90-minute live musical revue, showcasing the talents of active duty Soldiers who were selected by audition from throughout the Army. They are amateur artists who have a passion for music, dancing and performing.

Admission is free, on a first-come, first-served basis. It is not necessary to have a ticket.

Coaches’ meeting set for flag football

The 2012 Intramural Flag Football Program will begin Aug. 27 at 6 p.m. at the Eifler Sports Complex.

The team coaches meeting will be held Wednesday, 10 a.m. at Barnes Field House. All letters of intent are due at that time. Team rosters will be due Aug. 26.

BOSS plans trip to Disneyland

Murr Community Center is accepting reservations through Aug. 20 for the Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers’ trip to Disneyland, set for Labor Day weekend, Aug. 31 – Sept. 3.

Cost is $250 per person and includes park admission, hotel stay and transportation. B.O.S.S. members can earn a $50 discount on the cost through the BOSS Volunteer Program.

Tournament coming up at Desert Lanes

Desert Lanes Bowling Center will host a “king of the hill” tournament beginning at 1 p.m. Aug. 25. The tournament is open to all United States Bowling Congress members, and the cost is $45 per person.

Go tubing on the Salt River

Outdoor Recreation has planned a tubing trip to the Lower Salt River on Aug. 25. Cost is $40 for tubing, with $25 paid at the time of registration and $15 paid in cash at the float house for the tube and bus rides to drop-off/pickup sites.

The trip leaves at 7 a.m. from MWR Rents, Building 70914, Irwin Street.

MWR patrons can win free vacation

Now through Aug. 31, authorized Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation patrons have an opportunity to win one of four all-inclusive “Great Getaways” vacation packages to an Armed Forces Recreation Center.
