Team U.S. Army Electronic Proving Ground won the 2012 Commander’s Cup as a result of the combined effort of the government and contractor workforce. This blended family competed in nine sporting events ranging from soccer to golf. Through their sacrificed personal time and sweat, they amassed four first-place wins for EPG in flag football, paintball, dodgeball and volleyball.

The teamwork of the 38 EPG participants was rewarded on Aug. 23 at the Intelligence Systems Integration Laboratory during a ceremony when Col. Roger Sangvic, chief of staff, U.S. Army Intelligence Center of Excellence, presented the Commander’s Cup to Jason Genz, EPG’s unit athletic representative, and Barry Austin, EPG golf lead. Maj. Gen. Genaro Dellarocco, commanding general, U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., and Col. Ronald Jacobs, EPG commander, were present to share in the moment. As Sangvic spoke of EPG’s athletic accomplishments, a resounding “HOOAH” from a proud commander could be heard throughout the room.

The Commander’s Cup Program is gearing up for another memorable season. Waiting to take top spot are many other competitive tenant organizations. For now though, EPG celebrates, standing in the winner’s circle, relishing their hard-earned win. They also have earned a year’s worth of bragging rights.
