Buena High School Junior Reserve Officer Training cadets improved their confidence and team building skills as they underwent two days of training on Fort Huachuca’s Leadership Reaction Course on Sept. 13 and Friday. Cadets had to negotiate eight physical challenges that tested their minds, endurance and leadership capabilities.

Sgt. 1st Class Fausto Valenzuela, Buena High School’s JROTC instructor, stated that “Our objective is to teach that with teamwork, they can accomplish their mission. No matter what the mission is, no matter who takes charge, if you have teamwork you can get it done.” After two successful days, there were teams that were able to complete six of the stations. During each rotation to a new station, the leader would change. Whether it was a freshman or a junior classman, they all had their chance to lead their team.
