Programs, activities to heighten fire-prevention awareness

“Have Two Ways Out” is the theme of this year’s Fire Prevention Week which runs Sunday through Oct. 13.

The Fort Huachuca Fire Department Prevention Office staff and firefighters will visit the schools and the Child Youth Services areas on the following days:

Tuesday, 9 – 11 a.m.: New Beginnings and Expanding Horizons Child Development Center

Wednesday, 1 – 2 p.m.: Colonel Smith Middle School

Oct. 11, 9 – 10 a.m.: Colonel Johnston Elementary School

Oct. 12, 9 – 10 a.m.: General Myer Elementary School

There will be coloring contest for selected grades and handouts for all.

On Oct, 13, firefighters will be set up at the Main PX parking lot with an automobile extrication exercise, fire trucks on display and hands-on fire extinguisher demonstrations. Freddie the Fire Truck and Sparky the Fire Dog will provide youth entertainment and photo opportunities.
