FH IHG Army Hotel celebrates anniversary, new amenities

After celebrating its one-year anniversary in August, the IHG Army Hotel on Fort Huachuca shows promise and positive results.

“With changing to the IHG Army Hotels, that gets us within the IHG network,” said Tami Lykins, the hotel general manager.

IHG Army Hotels was created by the unification of InterContinental Hotels Group and Actus Lend Lease.

“We have been able to begin upgrades on our bed package which included new mattresses, linens, terries, bathroom amenities … [and] an increased variety in our continental breakfast which is complimentary,” Lykins added.

In addition, the hotel also hosts a two-hour Wednesday weekly social for their guests.

“The guys and ladies come down and they get to know each other, and it becomes an environment that’s more home-oriented,” Lykins said.

“We say ‘we provide the food, we provide the soft drinks, anything else you’re on your own,’” she laughed.

“August of last year we were doing the switch and it took some time … to get the idea of [it], but that first social … you could at that point see the guests like, ‘ok, this is a good thing,’ and that’s what it’s all about,” she said.

The food choices offered at the weekly social vary from hamburgers and hotdogs, to a Mexican or Italian themed night.

Additionally, since the switch to IHG Army Hotels, guests are now offered the opportunity to become a Priority Club Rewards member and earn value points during their stay.

“[Guests] can use those points for hotel stays on their own personal time, or for anything from music, to furniture … you just go in and you’re buying whatever it is you like,” Lykins said. “[The guests] are all into it.”

Lykins said the format of IHG Army Hotels is to “create great hotels guests love.”

Other amenities and services offered at IHG hotels include: courtesy on-post shuttle service, concierge service and free Internet. All hotels are also pet friendly so guests can bring pets with them.
