FMWR Briefs – November 8, 2012

Vets Day weekend specials offered

FMWR will observe Veterans Day with weekend specials of free services to active duty, Family members and retired military at the following facilities:

Friday – Family and MWR Rents (533.6707) will offer half-price rentals.

Saturday – the Arts and Crafts Center (533.2015/ 533.5550.) will offer free do-it-yourself time.

Sunday – The Sportsman’s Center (533.7085) will offer free paintball field time and free shotgun rental for trap and skeet; and The RAP (533.7085/732.9310) will offer free use of the batting cages.

Monday – Desert Lanes (533.2849) will offer free bowling and shoes; Buffalo Corral (533.5220) will offer a free trail ride; and Mountain View Golf Course (533.7088) will offer free golf and cart rental.

Tuesday – Thunder Mountain Activity Centre (533.3802) will offer their lunch buffet for half price.

All free services will be limited to available time and space to be determined by each facility, so early reservations are recommended.

SKIES offering new classes for youth

Beginning this month, Child, Youth and School Services’ SKIESUnlimited Program is offering several new classes, including college/high school prep writing; computer; gymnastics; musical theatre; piano lessons; drama; cooking; karate, tae kwon do; arts and crafts; and dance, including African style, hip hop, jazz/tap, ballet/tap, contemporary/lyrical, and dance technique and stretching classes.

Participants must be registered with CYSS.

Parent Central Services is located in Building 52111.

Turkey Bowl slated

Fort Huachuca will host its annual Turkey Bowl and holiday food drive on Warrior and Sentinel Field on Nov. 16 at 2:30 p.m. This event is a friendly football game between the 11th Theater Tactical Signal Brigade and partner signal organizations versus the 111th Military Intelligence Brigade. The public is invited, and there is no charge.

Those who attend should bring an item for the Chaplain’s Food Locker.

Right Arm Night will follow Turkey Bowl

Don’t miss the next Right Arm Night following the Turkey Bowl Nov. 16 at Warrior/Sentinel Field.

RAN is free and open to Soldiers, civilians, retirees and Family members 18 and older. There will be prizes, free finger foods and a pay-as-you-go bar.

Enjoy TMAC’s lunch buffet

Everyone is invited to enjoy lunch at Thunder Mountain Activity Centre, now served Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

TMAC offers the lunch buffet for $8.95 for adults or $4.50 for children 5 – 11. All buffets include salad bar, desserts, rolls and a non-alcoholic beverage.

SAC has openings for After-School Care

The School-Age Center, located at Building 52056, has several openings in their after-school care program. The program is open to 1st through 5th grade children of military personnel, Department of Defense civilians and contractors.

RAP announces winter hours

During the winter months, the Recreational Adventure Park, or RAP, is open Monday – Friday from 4 – 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from noon – 5 p.m.

The RAP offers batting cages and paintball fields, plus equipment rental for both activities. The facility is located off Hatfield Street, across from the Mini Mall at Pauley Field.
