Army Materiel Command welcomes Directorates of Logistics

Commander, Army Materiel Command

On Oct. 1, after 24 months of detailed planning and coordination with the Department of the Army, and in strong partnership with Installation Management Command, Army Materiel Command assumed management of Directorates of Logistics, or DOL, Army-wide. I want to take this opportunity to personally welcome every member of the 73 DOL locations — 49 in the United States and 24 overseas — to the AMC team.

The unique capabilities and experience of the 100 Soldier, 5,000 civilian, and 18,000 contractor professional DOL workforce are a welcomed addition to AMC. Thank you for the work you do every day in support of our Soldiers and our Warfighting units. We could not be more proud to welcome you to our command. We are all proud to be part of the Army Team.

Both the AMC and IMCOM leadership have worked very hard to ensure the transition will be seamless to our customer — the Joint Warfighter — a testament to the abilities and efforts of the tremendous DOL workforce. While there will be change, it’s important to understand our DOLs will remain the garrison commander’s lead for logistics.

As we move forward and integrate the unique capabilities of our globally networked logistics command with the DOLs, we will standardize DOL contracts under the Enhanced Army Global Logistics Enterprise, or EAGLE, program. Under EAGLE, 148 separate contracts will be consolidated into 40 installation logistics contracts, with standardized performance work statements and performance measures. EAGLE is intended to increase the Army’s buying power and improve the supply chain across AMC.

The Warfighter depends on AMC and our new DOL partners to put high-quality equipment into their hands quickly and at a competitive cost. With the addition of the DOLs, we will do so more efficiently and effectively. Our support to the corps, division, brigade combat teams, training centers of excellence and enablers must not falter.

Again, welcome to the AMC team, where we provide America’s joint warfighter with the Decisive Edge. If a Soldier shoots it, drives it, flies it, wears it, communicates with it or eats it — AMC provides it.
