Giving Tree has Dec. 2 deadline

Fort Huachuca’s Giving Trees are located in all four chapels on post, at Greely Hall, the Joint Interoperability Test Command and the Fort Huachuca Main Post Exchange. Those who wish to make someone’s Christmas more joyful can remove an ornament from a tree, purchase the item(s) listed and return the unwrapped item(s) to the Main Post Chapel or PX by Dec. 2 as all gifts must be processed for giving by Dec. 15.

Toys for Tots drive underway

The Thunder Mountain Detachment of the Marine Corps League is conducting its fifth annual Toys For Tots campaign now. Drop-off boxes are located at all Cochise County Sheriff’s substations throughout the county and at selected local business establishments. The public is invited to donate new, unwrapped toys to be distributed to needy children in Cochise County for Christmas.

Vintage baseball players sought

The Bisbee Black Sox Vintage Base Ball team is looking for players of any age, male or female, for the winter/spring season. Vintage Base ball is played by 1860 rules (underhand pitching, no sliding into base, a fly ball caught on one bounce is out). The game appeals to softball and baseball players. Operation HOME registration underway

American Vietnam Veterans Association 1020 Operation HOME, or Honoring Our Military Everyday Program volunteers invite active duty military Families E6 and below, all wounded warrior Families and Cochise County Families of fallen military in Arizona to register children to participate in the annual holiday event honoring military children. The actual event will be held Dec. 8.

13th Annual Festival of Trees

Christmas trees, wreaths, and centerpieces are donated by business and individuals and placed on display at The Mall at Sierra Vista during the Festival of Trees. All entries are judged and winners are presented with ribbons that are displayed with their entries. Viewing takes place through Nov. 29 during normal mall hours.

The Mall at Sierra Vista is located at 2200 Mercado Loop. Admission is free.

Gem, mineral show slated

The Sunsites Gem and Mineral Club will host a display of minerals, rocks and jewelry in the Little Store at Old Pearce Heritage Days in Pearce on Friday and Saturday. The show will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Disabled hunters event announced

Huachuca Gould’s Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will hosting a Wheelin’ Sportsmen Dove hunt on Friday and Saturday, outside of Elfrida. The Wheelin’ Sportsmen program is committed to providing people with disabilities the opportunity to get out and enjoy outdoor activities, such as hunting, fishing, shooting sports and much more. Those with a disability that has kept them from enjoying the outdoors are invited to register.

Arts, crafts festival Saturday

Little Family Farm will hold an arts and crafts festival, Saturday, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Enjoy the farm activities and shopping too! Admission is free.
