Historic integrity of Mountain View Officers’ Club lost due to modifications

The Army Corps of Engineers’ Construction Engineering Research Laboratory, or CERL, has completed an eligibility study on the Mountain View Officers’ Club. This study was requested by Fort Huachuca’s garrison commander to gather current data on its existing condition.

The study notes there has been a complete redesign of the interior floor plan, a removal of the original mural in the dance hall, that most of the original windows were removed from the first floor and all of the windows and their openings were removed from the second floor and attic level.

Due to these modifications, CERL recommends the Mountain View Officers’ Club is not eligible for inclusion to the National Register of Historic Places because it lacks integrity and does not convey its historic significance, and Fort Huachuca supports this recommendation.
The full study is available to the public at http://acwc.sdp.sirsi.net/client/search/asset:asset?t:ac=$N/1011642.
