Giving Tree has Sunday deadline
Fort Huachuca’s Giving Trees are located in all four chapels on post, at Greely Hall, the Joint Interoperability Test Command and the Fort Huachuca Main Post Exchange. Those who wish to make someone’s Christmas more joyful can remove an ornament from a tree, purchase the item(s) listed and return the unwrapped item(s) to the Main Post Chapel or PX by Sunday as all gifts must be processed for giving by Dec. 15.

Toys for Tots drive underway
The Thunder Mountain Detachment of the Marine Corps League is conducting its fifth annual Toys For Tots campaign now. Drop-off boxes are located at all Cochise County Sheriff’s substations throughout the county and at selected local business establishments. The public is invited to donate new, unwrapped toys to be distributed to needy children in Cochise County for Christmas.
Vintage baseball players sought
The Bisbee Black Sox Vintage Base Ball team is looking for players of any age, male or female, for the winter/spring season. Vintage Base ball is played by 1860 rules (underhand pitching, no sliding into base, a fly ball caught on one bounce is out). The game appeals to softball and baseball players. Operation HOME registration underway
American Vietnam Veterans Association 1020 Operation HOME, or Honoring Our Military Everyday Program volunteers invite active duty military Families E6 and below, all wounded warrior Families and Cochise County Families of fallen military to register children to participate in the annual holiday event honoring military children. The actual event will be held Dec. 8.

Musical ensembles to perform
Cochise College choral and instrumental ensembles will present “A Candlelight Christmas” in a joint concert with the Note-ables, a community women’s chorus tonight and Friday, 7 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30, at the Sierra Vista United Methodist Church sanctuary, 3225 St. Andrews Dr., Sierra Vista. Annual tree lighting ceremony planned
The annual unveiling of the collection of Old World Santas, as well as the lighting of trees will be celebrated at dusk on Friday, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. at Veterans’ Memorial Park, Fry Boulevard, Sierra Vista. Admission is free.

Christmas parade kicks off holidays
The City of Sierra Vista Chamber of Commerce hosts its 54th Annual Christmas Light Parade on Saturday, 5:30 p.m., to kick-off the holiday season. This year’s theme is “Celebrate with Music,” and the parade is open to the entire community. The route is from 7th Street and Fry Boulevard to Fry Boulevard and Avenida Escuela.
Concert band sets performance
The Cochise College Concert Band will hold its final performance of the semester Sunday, 2 p.m. at the Ethel Berger Center, 2950 E. Tacoma St., Sierra Vista. The band will perform a mix of traditional concert band pieces, jazz, pop and rock favorites and a few holiday tunes.

The Military Intelligence Corps Band’s “Huachuca Jazz Project” is working with band students at Benson High School. Their work culminates in a concert at Benson High School on Wednesday at 6 p.m. This concert is open to the public.

Strings orchestra to perform
The Cochise County Youth Orchestra will present their winter concert featuring a wide variety of all-strings music. The performance will be held on Wednesday, 7 p.m. at Kino Hall, located next to St. Andrew’s Church, 800 Taylor Dr., in Sierra Vista. Admission to the concert is free. The orchestra will be collecting donations at the door of canned goods and non-perishable food items for the Calvary’s Rock Church Food Closet.

Free family predator hunting camp
The Huachuca Gould’s Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation will host a two-day free family predator hunting camp on Dec. 8 and 9, including meals. The event, open to families with children, will teach predator calling and hunting from experienced instructors. Children planning on hunting must be between 10 – 17. Actual predator hunts will be conducted the afternoon of Dec. 8 and the morning of Dec. 9. Family members who attend and do not hunt will have other activities available.
Double U Ranch, located east of Tombstone off Gleeson Road, provides ample space for travel trailers, tents or vehicle camping.
Pre-registration is required, and the deadline is Friday.
