Military Family Appreciation Night set

Army Community Service will present Military Family Appreciation Night tonight from 6 – 9 p.m. at Thunder Mountain Activity Centre. The event is free and open to all FMWR patrons, including active duty, Reserves, retirees and Family members.

Various activities for children and adults, including 3D Game Box, a DJ playing a variety of music, finger foods and beverages will be available.

Military to get free holiday trees

The Christmas SPIRIT Foundation, the FedEx Corp and Army Community Service will present free Trees for Troops® today and tomorrow at the Thunder Mountain Activity Centre parking lot. The trees are donated by more than 800 Christmas tree growers from across the United States. They will be available free of charge to military Families. Today until 6 p.m., active duty E1 – E6 may pick up trees. Then from 6 – 9 p.m. and from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Friday, all military families may obtain trees.

Shop for holiday gifts at Murr CC

Murr Community Center will host a “Christmas Boutique” Saturday from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

With more than 20 craft vendors, this event will offer an opportunity for shoppers to find holiday gifts for everyone on their list.

NOEL event scheduled for Dec. 7, 8

FMWR will present “NOEL” — Night of Extraordinary Lights — Dec. 7 and 8 from 4 – 11 p.m. at Mountain View Golf Course. This free event is open to everyone.

Activities include: hay rides to view holiday light displays, ice skating rink (skates provided), photos with Santa, holiday movies, letters to the North Pole and more.

Food and beverages will be available for purchase, and craft vendors will be on hand for holiday shopping.

Join ‘Biggest Loser’ Boot Camp

Sports, Fitness and Aquatics will present the “Biggest Loser Boot Camp,” a three-month-long weight loss camp beginning in January and offered free to FMWR patrons.

The program includes: nutrition counseling; basic food preparation and cooking for a healthy diet; full body and fitness assessments; and individual workout programs along with group programs.

Entry forms and physician’s clearance forms are available at Barnes Field House and Eifler Fitness Center. Applications are due Dec. 20 by 5 p.m.

Racquetball team meeting set for Dec. 12

The team representatives meeting for the 2013 Intramural Racquetball Tournament will be held Dec. 12, 10 a.m., at Barnes Field House.

Team rosters are due no later than Jan. 2. The tournament will begin Jan. 7 at 6 p.m.

SKIES offering new classes for youth

Child, Youth and School Service’s SKIESUnlimited Program is offering several new classes, including college and high school prep writing, computer, gymnastics, musical theatre, piano lessons, drama, cooking, karate, tae kwon do, arts, crafts, and dance, including African Style, hip hop, jazz/tap, ballet/tap, contemporary/lyrical, and dance technique and stretching classes.

Participants must be registered with CYSS. Parent Central Services is located in Building 52111, 533.0738.
