The Military Intelligence Band Brass Choir opened the show for the “Sounds of the Season” at Buena High School on Dec. 12. The group played four different pieces including “The Star Spangled Banner” and “Festive Cheer.”
The United States Military Intelligence Corps Band brought “Sounds of the Season” to life during a performance at Buena High School on Dec. 12.
More than 300 community members came out to enjoy the free concert and get in the holiday spirit last week. The band performed as a whole for the crowd as well as in individual ensembles such as the opening numbers performed by the MI Corps Band Brass Choir.
“It was absolutely wonderful, I loved it! I loved the decorations! I loved the selections of songs and I liked that they had all the ensembles mixed up in into one and then broke them all out, absolutely wonderful,” said Janis McCollum, who was in attendance for the second year. Her husband Devin played the bass in the First Time Go ensemble.
Santa Claus surprised audience members with candy canes at Buena High School during “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” as performed by Bruce Springsteen. The performance was part of the “Sounds of the Season” concert presented by the United States Military Intelligence Corps Band.
Songs included “We Three Funky Kings,” by 1st Sgt. Glen Brown, “Sleigh Ride,” by Leroy Anderson and a blend of the service songs of the United States Armed Forces. During “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” as performed by Bruce Springsteen, Santa made a special appearance and handed out candy canes to audience members.
Sgt. 1st Class Craig Hannum, 18th Military Police Detachment sergeant, was the master of ceremonies during the “Sounds of the Season concert presented by the United States Military Intelligence Corps Band.”
“I thought it was awesome, we have a bunch of Soldiers that are able to fight for us, protect our freedoms, entertain us and just make it a wonderful Christmas. It is a great time tonight,” said Tom Borer, deputy garrison commander. “It is great because it brings people together — it brings family together and just brings out the cheer and the joy of the season.”
