How are those resolutions coming?

Have you checked everything — or anything off that ‘to do’ list of home maintenance and repair projects? Do you have everything ready to plant your spring garden? ¿Cómo van esas lecciones de Espanola? Having trouble finding a good book to read each week?

If those New Year’s resolutions have stalled, the Sierra Vista Public Library staff can help, and people won’t even have to leave their house. Visit the Sierra Vista Public Library’s online databases and discover a virtual library full of information that will help achieve those goals.

The library hosts databases that cover hundreds of topics ranging from auto repair to zigzag beading design. Get help with ancestry research or learn all you ever wanted to know about zebras. Master a language through the Mango Languages online learning system, or let Next Good Book or NoveListPlus tailor a reading list just for you. Get information on starting a small business using the Small Business Reference Center, plan the next vacation using Global Road Warrior, or get a personal tutor to help with homework through Live Homework Help®.

Need technical assistance? Safari Select offers hundreds of e-books on computing, desktop applications, digital photography, everything Mac, home entertainment, the Internet, and Windows and PCs. These are just a few of the many helpful databases offered free to library patrons.

The Home Improvement Reference Center alone covers hundreds of topics such as fireplace inspection, home remodeling, room decorating, gutter repair or fireplace inspection and more. How about adding wainscoting to really fancy up a room?

Use the Small Engine Repair Resource Center and the winter months to get engines humming. Find complete instructions for servicing just about any lawn tractor, string trimmer or rotary tiller. Get ATVs, boats, and Sea-doos ready for summer fun and avoid the last minute disappointment of an engine that won’t turn over.

Don’t know how to use a computer to access these free resources? The library staff has got users covered there, too. Free computer classes and classes on using e-readers are going on now at the library. The classes will cover a variety of basic computer skills that will soon have library users on their way to accomplishing their goals while the e-reader classes will teach patrons how to use that new Kindle or iPad they just received for Christmas.

Looks like people are out of excuses, so get started checking off some of those New Year’s resolutions.

For more information, visit the Sierra Vista Public Library at 2600 E. Tacoma or call 458.4225.
