Old Soldiers Never Die … Six retire on Brown Parade Field during quarterly IRC

Col. Rich Rivera, Network Enterprise Technology Command, assistant chief of staff, G-1 and Sgt. Maj. Aurora Patterson, NETCOM assistant chief of staff, g-1, sergeant major presided over the Quarterly Installation Retirement ceremony and awarded six retirees with 144 years of combined military service with certificates and plaques for their service to the United States.

Following the invocation be Chaplain (Lt. Col. [P]) Ken Godfrey, senior garrison chaplain; recitation of the history of Brown Parade Field; and playing of the National Anthem by the 62nd Army Band, the honorees were recognized individually.

Lt. Col. David Hocker retired with more than 28 years of service to the United States Army. His final assignment was as a section lead and joint test officer with the Joint Interoperability Test Command, Defense Information Systems Agency. In addition to the awards presented on military retirement, Hocker received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal.

He and his wife Lesley have two daughters, Kaitlyn and Olivia. They plan to reside in Sierra Vista.

Maj. Scott Foreman, U.S. Air Force, leaves the military after 20 years of service. His most recent assignment was as a joint test officer, JITC, DISA. In addition to retirement awards, Foreman received the Defense Meritorious Service Medal.

He and his wife Angela have two daughters, Michela and Megan, and son, Stewart. They plan to make their home in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Lt. Col. John Sivils recently completed his last tour of duty as chief, Law and Order Detainee Operations, with 3rd Army at Shaw Air Force Base, S.C. He left the Army after 25 years of service and received the Meritorious Service Medal.

Sivils has one son, Jack, and presently resides in Gilbert.

Maj. Kathy Babin is currently assigned as chief, Environmental Health Preventive Medicine, Raymond W. Bliss Army Health Center, Medical Activity Command. She is retiring with a combined total of 23 years in the Army Reserves and U.S. Army. In honor of her service, Babin received the Meritorious Service Medal.

She has one son, Michael. The major was accompanied on the field by her mother, Frances Hazel. Babin and her Family plan to reside in Homestead, Fla.
Master Sgt. Theresa Robinson is currently assigned to the Office of the Chief, Military Intelligence, U.S. Army Intelligence Center of Excellence. She is retiring after 28 years of service to the U.S. Army and received the Meritorious Service Medal.

Sgt. 1st Class Jeffery Robinson is currently assigned to Company A, 304th Military Intelligence Battalion, as the noncommissioned officer in charge, educational specialist, USAICoE. He is retiring after 20 years of combined service, four to the U.S. Navy and 16 to the U.S. Army and received the Meritorious Service Medal for his service.

Master Sgt. and Sgt. 1st Class Robinson have one son, Brandon.

The Robinsons will take up residence in Waco, Texas.

Following the ceremony, spouses and special guests were honored with a bouquet of flowers or other token of appreciation in honor of the support they provided to their military member.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, the colors were retired, and the 62nd Army Band played four numbers and the audience joined in song. The ceremony concluded with the traditional cavalry charge by members of B Troop, 4th Cavalry Regiment (Memorial) across Brown Parade Field.
