Audition for play

The Illegitimate Theater Company, Inc. will conduct auditions for their upcoming spring production of Joseph Kesselring’s “Arsenic and Old Lace.” Auditions will be held at Sulpher Springs Valley Electric Coop on Monday at 6 p.m. Men and women 20 – 65 are needed along with anyone wanting to understudy any of the roles. The show will take place in mid and late April at Murr Community Center on Fort Huachuca.

Cowboy Poetry, Music Gathering

The 21st Annual Cochise Cowboy Poetry and Music Gathering takes place tonight, 7 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.(multiple poetry and music sessions at $5 per person) and 7 p.m.; and Sunday, 1 p.m., at the Buena High School Performing Arts Center, 5225 Buena School Blvd., Sierra Vista. Cost is $18, $16 for military and those 55 and older, and $6 for students in grades 3 – 12. Tickets are on sale now.

Volksmarch coming to Fairbank

Sierra Vista’s Thunder Mountain Trekkers will sponsor a volksmarch on Saturday. The walk will be held at Fairbank Ghost Town with starting times from 9 – 11 a.m. The group offers a 5- (3.1 miles) or 10- (6.2 miles) kilometer trail.

Fairbank is located on the east side of the San Pedro River on State Route 82, between Whetstone and Tombstone.

Celebrate chocolate

The Friends of the Copper Queen Library’s “22nd Annual Chocolate Tasting” will be held on Saturday, 6 – 9 p.m. at Central School, 43 Howell Ave., Bisbee.

The building is accessible to electric wheelchairs at the north entrance.

For $10, ticketholders choose six treats from among those displayed or, if more convenient, can call 432.3401 and order a to-go box for pick-up in the Central School Lobby between 4 – 6 p.m.

Historical society luncheon

The Sierra Vista Historical Society invites the public to a luncheon and speaker event on Feb. 15. Doors open at 11 a.m. with a buffet lunch served at 11:30 a.m. at Pueblo del Sol Country Club, St. Andrew’s Drive, Sierra Vista. The speaker is Father Glenn Snow from Saint Cyril’s Parish in Tucson who will speak about some the scandals, along with the scamps and scoundrels who lived in this area. The cost is $15 per person, and reservations are required by Wednesday

Master Gardener Conference set

The Cochise County Master Gardeners Association will hold its 20th annual High Desert Gardening and Landscaping Conference at the Windemere Hotel and Conference Center, State Route 92, across from the Mall at Sierra Vista, on Thursday and Feb. 15. This conference is a two-day event open to everyone.

The registration fee is $100 ($65 for one day) and includes two full days of educational talks, breakfast and lunch both days, a Friday reception, a gift bag and giveaways. There will be more than 20 speakers who will address garden- and food-related topics.

Information is available at the Sierra Vista Farmers Market information booth, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Thursday, at the corner of Wilcox Avenue and Carmichael Drive.

Square dance on Feb. 15

The Thunder Mountain Twirlers are holding their annual Sweetheart Square Dance on Feb. 15, 7:30 – 9:30 p.m., at the Sierra Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall, 101 N. Lenzner, Sierra Vista. No sweetheart is necessary; singles and couples are welcome! Cost is $4 for members, $5 for non-members. Snacks are provided.

View quilts at show

“A Galaxy of Stars Quilt Show” will be held on Feb. 23, 9 a.m. –5 p.m. and Feb. 24, 10 a.m. –3 p.m., at Buena High School, 5225 E. Buena School Blvd., Sierra Vista. Admission is $5; children under 12 free. There is free parking which is handicapped accessible. Food will be available for purchase.

More than 150 quilts will be on display — vintage, traditional, art quilts and modern. Quilt-related vendors will offer items for purchase.
