MVC offers photography contest to on-post residents

Mountain Vista Communities, or MVC, wants to change the cover picture used on the organization’s website and newsletter. The MVC staff is holding a photo contest for all residents living in Fort Huachuca on-post Family housing and would like the winning entry to portray an actual Family residing in on-post housing here at Fort Huachuca, rather than using a generic picture of professional models representing military Families residing in MVC housing. The photo contest is not limited to Army personnel. It is open to members of all branches of service currently residing in MVC housing on Fort Huachuca.

MVC is looking for a photograph of a military Family with at least one service member wearing either the current Army combat uniform, or ACU, or Army Service Uniform, or ASU. Those in other branches of service should wear the most current version of their duty uniform.

The Family photo should include the service member and spouse, children or the entire Family. The photo can be of a Family with both parents with children, a couple with no children or a single parent with children. Keep the background as plain as possible, and limit the number of foreign objects in the picture in order to enable MVC webmasters to easily transpose the picture onto the background used on the website. It may be taken either inside or outdoors, and may either be posed or an action shot.

The photographer of the winning picture will receive a Family fun package valued at over $600 with prizes including a gift card to a local movie theater, a certificate to a local restaurant and a $500 rent discount applied towards their April 2013 rent. MVC Assistant Manager Shellie Cerecke says, “This is a unique opportunity that we’re very excited about here at MVC. Having a local Family represent us for our headline photo is such a fun way to show the community how much we care about the Families living in our homes. We often try to involve the Families in community functions, and this is just one more way to do that.”

To qualify for the contest, all participants must be listed in the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System and on the residents lease with MVC. The winner must be willing to sign a release for the photo to be used to represent MVC family housing on the Fort Huachuca MVC Web and Facebook pages, and possibly for marketing purposes.

There is a limit of three electronic photographic entry submissions per household, and the deadline is March 8. Submissions should be in the highest quality setting possible and should be in JPEG file format. Email submissions to jcooper@themichaelsorg.com. The winner will be contacted and announced by the end of March. Look for results online at www.mountainvistacommunities.com or on the Mountain Vista Communities Facebook page. The winning picture will appear at the top of the April newsletter and on the MVC website on April 1.
