TMAC closed through July 12

Thunder Mountain Activity Centre, including the lunch buffet, is closed through July 12 for construction. The lunch buffet will re-open July 16. For more information, call 533.3802 or 533.7322.

Could you be the next ‘Rising Star’?

FMWR is looking for contestants for the 2013 Operation Rising Star contest, a worldwide singing competition, based on the “American Idol” television series.  Locally, contestants have the chance to win cash prizes up to $500.  The contest is open to all branches of active duty military, Reserve, National Guard or their military Family members 18 and older. Applications are available now on-line at http://www.OpRising-Star.com. The local competition will be held in September.

Outdoor pool now open

Irwin Outdoor Pool is now open for the season. Hours are: Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 9 – 11 a.m. for lap swim only, and 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. for open swim; and federal and training holidays, 9 – 11 a.m. for lap swim only, and 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. for open swim.  The pool is open to all authorized FMWR patrons.

SKIES offers classes for youth

Child, Youth and School Services SKIESUnlimited Program is offering a number of classes, including computer, gymnastics, piano lessons, cooking, karate, tae kwon do and arts and crafts. Dance classes include hip hop, jazz/tap, ballet/tap, contemporary/lyrical, and dance technique and stretching classes.  Participants must be registered with CYSS. Parent Central Services is located in Building 52111, 533.0738.

Free movie night set for July 20

FMWR will present a free Moonlight Movie, “Jack and the Giant Slayer,” July 20 at Warrior/Sentinel Field.  The movie will start at dusk.  Enjoy free popcorn, hot dogs, water and soft drinks, while supplies last.

Cool off at Right Arm Night

The July 26 Right Arm Night will start at 4 p.m. at Thunder Mountain Activity Centre and is designed to help people “beat the heat.”  Free finger foods, ice cream sundae bar, fruit cones, summer punch and a pay-as-you-go bar will be available.  Enter contests. Win prizes.  Right Arm Night is free and open to everyone, including Soldiers, civilians, retirees and Family members 18 and older.
