DoD civilian furloughs begin; many fort offices have reduced hours or close on certain days

The furlough of Department of Defense civilian employees began on Monday. This led to reduced or changed hours for a number of operations and offices on Fort Huachuca as a result of reduced civilian staffing.

The Fort Huachuca Museum now operates on a four-day-per week schedule and is closed Sundays and Mondays.

In addition to the regularly scheduled closure on Mondays, the Fort Huachuca commissary is closed on Tuesdays.

The Directorate of Emergency Services cannot process tax exempt requests, weapons registration, police reports and background checks on Fridays.

Range Control is now closed on Mondays.

Visual Information, the Directorate of Human Resources (with the exception of Casualty Affairs), Retirement Services Office, Army Substance Abuse Program, Education Services, Equal Employment Opportunity Office, Public Affairs and the Directorate of Resource Management are closed on Fridays due to furlough.

Other offices such as the Garrison Command Group, Training Support Center, Libby Army Airfield Base Operations, Army Community Service, ISO, Religious Support Office and the Staff Judge Advocate will remain open five days per week, but will have reduced staffing on some days due to furlough, particularly on Mondays and Fridays.

Non-appropriated fund, or NAF, employees are exempt from furlough. Therefore, Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation offices and services staffed by NAF employees are operating as regularly scheduled.
