Cool off at Right Arm Night

Tonight’s Right Arm Night will start at 4 p.m. at Thunder Mountain Activity Centre and is designed to help people “beat the heat.”

Free finger foods, ice cream sundae bar, fruit cones, summer punch and a pay-as-you-go bar will be available. Enter contests. Win prizes.

Right Arm Night is free and open to everyone, including Soldiers, civilians, retirees and Family members 18 and older.

TMAC will host dance night

Everyone is invited to “Old School Jam Night” Saturday, starting at 8 p.m. at Thunder Mountain Activity Centre. Come dance the night away to DJ music from the 80s, 90s and today.

Admission is free, and a pay-as-you-go bar will be available.

Register children now for Youth Soccer

Youth Sports and Fitness is holding Youth Soccer Program Registration through Aug. 16 at the Parent Central Services Office, Building 52111.

The program is open to youth 4 – 12. The fee is $40 per child. Practice begins on or about Aug. 19. To register, call 533.0738.

Blues band will perform at TMAC

Thunder Mountain Activity Centre will present the “Blues, Brews & BBQ” Family Blues Night featuring the Andy T./Nick Nixon Band Aug. 4, 5 to 7 p.m.

The event is open to all ages, and admission is free. Food will be available to purchase, and a pay-as-you-go-bar will also be offered.

U of A Football returns to Fort Huachuca

The University of Arizona Wildcat Football Team will hold pre-season practice at Fort Huachuca. The practices are free and open to the public.

Practices are set for: Aug. 8 – 8 a.m.; Aug. 9 – 11:30 a.m.; and Aug. 10 – 8:30 a.m., all at Warrior/Sentinel Field near Eifler Fitness Center; and Aug. 10 – 5:30 p.m. (scrimmage) at Bujalski Field near Barnes Field House.

Coaches’ meeting set for flag football

The team coaches meeting for the 2013 Intramural Flag Football Program will be held Aug. 14, 10 a.m., at Barnes Field House. All letters of intent are due at that time. Team rosters will be due Aug. 30, and the program will begin Sept. 3, 6 p.m., at Barnes Field House.

Could you be the next ‘Rising Star’?

FMWR is looking for contestants for the 2013 Operation Rising Star contest, a worldwide singing competition, based on the “American Idol” television series. Locally, contestants have the chance to win cash prizes up to $500.

The contest is open to all branches of active duty military, Reserve, National Guard or their military Family members 18 and older. Applications are available now online at http://www.OpRisingStar.com. The local competition will be held in September.

Outdoor pool now open

Irwin Outdoor Pool is open for the season. Hours are: Thursday and Friday, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 9 – 11 a.m. for lap swim only and 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. for open swim; federal and training holidays, 9 – 11 a.m. for lap swim only and 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. for open swim.

The pool is open to all authorized MWR patrons.
