Conditions considered for EFMP enrollment

The Exceptional Family Member Program, or EFMP, is a mandatory enrollment program that works with other military and civilian agencies to provide comprehensive and coordinated community support, housing, educational, medical and personnel services to Families with special needs. Those who think they have a Family member eligible for services should review the list below to determine if they may qualify for EFMP enrollment. If any question is answered “yes,” refer the service member to the ACS EFMP manager for further query.

  1. Special education services that are specified on an Individual Education Plan or early intervention services specified on an Individual Family Service Plan.
  2. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder/attention deficit disorder requiring intensive management by any provider.
  3. Any diagnosis requiring medical care above the level normally provided by a Family practitioner in an outpatient clinic setting
  4. Potentially life-threatening conditions or conditions requiring intensive follow-up support within the past five years.
  5. Chronic outpatient or impatient mental health treatment within the past five years.

For further information, contact 533.6871 or 538.5899.

Mandatory SHARP training planned

The annual 3.5 hour mandatory SHARP training will be held at Murr Community Center on the following dates: Aug. 22 and Sept. 5 and 19. All training sessions will be held from 8 – 11:30 a.m. This training is being provided by the Fort Huachuca U.S. Army Garrison and is open to all Soldiers and civilians. Breakfast items will be available for purchase.

For more information, call the garrison SARC, 538.5971 or garrison victim advocate, 533.0282.

Resilience training, Resilient Spouse Academy

Among the many ACS-provided services, resilience training is available to Department of the Army, or DA, civilians and military spouses at Fort Huachuca. Soldiers can attend this training if instruction is not available through the military master resilience trainers assigned to the unit.

Resilience training focuses on specific skills to develop abilities to understand the thoughts, emotions and behaviors of self and others and to master these skills to strengthen relationships through communication strategies. Instruction provided also allows one to discuss problems assertively, respond constructively to positive experiences, and praise effectively.

ACS has six certified master resilience trainers on staff, all trained at the University of Pennsylvania. The primary focus of the ACS Resilience Training is to teach DA civilians and military spouses skills they can use to become more resilient. This training encompasses resilience training, or RT, Resilient Spouse Academy, or RSA, and pre/post deployment modules.

The upcoming dates for RT are Aug. 21 – 22 and Oct. 2 – 3. Call 533.6871 for RT. RSA will take place Sept. 16 – 21. Call 533.3107.
