Free movie night set for tomorrow

FMWR will present a free Moonlight Movie, “GI Joe: Retaliation,” tomorrow at Warrior/Sentinel Field. The movie will start at dusk.

Free popcorn, hot dogs, water and soft drinks will be provided, while supplies last.

Buy advance carnival tickets and save

Advance carnival tickets are on sale now for the 2013 Fun Festival, set for Sept. 27 – 29 at Veterans’ Memorial Park, Sierra Vista. The City of Fun Carnival will be featured, with rides for all ages. Buy in advance and save $3.

Tickets are available at Fort Huachuca’s Murr Community Center and Thunder Mountain Activity Centre, and at Buffalo Wild Wings and Ace Hardware in Sierra Vista for the price of $9 for 10 tickets.

During the carnival, the price will be $12 for 10 tickets.

All-day wristbands are also being sold at all locations for the price of $22 per day. Cost will be $25 during the festival.

‘Rising Star’ finalists will win cash prizes

FMWR is looking for contestants for the 2013 Operation Rising Star contest, a worldwide singing competition, based on the “American Idol” television series. The top three local contestants will win cash prizes of $500 for first place; $250 for second place; and $100 for third place. In addition, the first-place winner will have the opportunity to compete in the Army-wide competition.

The preliminary round of the local competition will be held Sept. 20 at Murr Community Center, and the final round will take place Sept. 27, 5 p.m., during the Fun Festival at Veterans’ Memorial Park, Sierra Vista.

The contest is open to all branches of active duty military, Reserve, National Guard or their military Family members 18 and older. Applications are available now online at http:/www.OpRisingStar.com.

September RAN will be held at Murr

The September Right Arm Night is set to start at 4 p.m. Sept. 20 at Murr Community Center. In addition to the usual free finger food, games and prize giveaways, enjoy live entertainment from the contestants who are competing in the preliminary round of Fort Huachuca’s 2013 Rising Star singing competition.

Right Arm Night is free and open to everyone, including Soldiers, civilians, retirees and Family members.

Vendors needed for Fun Festival

FMWR is looking for food, arts and crafts, novelty and other vendors for the 2013 Fun Festival to be held Sept. 27 – 29 at Veterans’ Memorial Park, Sierra Vista.

Don’t miss popular Mutt March

A popular Fun Festival event will be the 5-kilometer Mutt March that will be held Sept. 28 starting at 7:30 a.m. at Veterans’ Memorial Park, Fry Boulevard, Sierra Vista.

Bring your pet and participate in this fun event. Cost is $10 for pet and human and includes refreshments and a t-shirt. Sponsors and vendors will award prizes for contests in various categories.

Murr seeks vendors for fall bazaar

The Murr Community Center staff is looking for vendors to display their items at their “fall bazaar” set for Oct. 12 and 13 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

The event will be open to the public, and items such as knit and hand-sewn apparel, candles, fragrances, wood crafts and other items will be available.

Vendors may pick up an application at Murr. The cost is $20 per space. For more information, call 533.2404.

Join friends at TMAC for lunch

The staff of Thunder Mountain Activity Centre invites everyone to join them for their lunch buffet, now served Tuesdays through Fridays, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Cost of the lunch buffet is $8.95 for adults or $4.50 for children 5 – 11. All buffets include salad bar, desserts, rolls and a non-alcoholic beverage.
