SVRHC announces new hospital groundbreaking ceremony

SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. – Officials at Sierra Vista Regional Health Center, or SVRHC, announced that the groundbreaking ceremony for the new hospitalwill be at 4 p.m. on Oct. 16. The ceremony will be held at the hospital’s east campus near the Outpatient Surgery Center located at 151 Colonia de Salud in Sierra Vista. Construction on the 100-bed facility is expected to begin in December.

SVRHC Board Chairman Bruce Dockter said, “This is an exciting milestone for Sierra Vista. The new hospital will expand healthcare options for the community, bring expanded economic opportunities, and be a benefit when attracting new business to the area.It is gratifying after so much hard work on the part of many people to see this happening and I look forward to seeing the actual construction begin.”

Mike Jones of Gould Turner Architects designed the new facility and JE Dunn Construction was recently announced as the general contractor for the project.

Legacy Foundation Chairman Ron Wagner added, “Together with RegionalCare Hospital Partners, our new technologically advanced hospital will bring our community the enhanced medical services it deserves. I’m very proud to see the final pieces of the Hospital Board and Legacy Foundation’s vision of a new hospital coming together.”

The new hospital is just one part of a plan to continue improving health care and medical services in this region. RegionalCare Hospital Partners has committed $18 million to recruit more than 25 physicians over the next seven years.

“With a new hospital, Cochise County and Fort Huachuca residents will have a top-notch facility to go along with the quality patient care they already receive,” said Tom Pemberton, Interim CEO at SVRHC.

Scheduled speakers for the event are: Bruce Dockter, Ron Wagner, Martin Rash, Dr. Jaya Maddur, Mayor Rick Mueller and Col. Dan McFarland. The Buena High School Band will be performing and light refreshments will be served.
