CFC campaign resumes activity suspended during furlough

Scout reports

With the end of the recent government furlough, the Department of Defense, or DoD, may now resume Combined Federal Campaign activities suspended while the furlough was in place.

In a DoD memorandum dated Oct. 17, Susan Yarwood, acting for the Human Resources director, thanked employees for their role in the Department’s effort “to conduct a high quality and energetic solicitation on behalf of the charities listed in the CFC.” Yarwood expressed appreciation for employees’ patience during that time.

“Department of Defense employees are advised that CFC activities in the Continental United States may now resume,” Yarwood wrote. “We wish you much success as you carry on a vigorous campaign to help those people who rely upon these local, national and international charities.”

This means that unit coordinators on Fort Huachuca have now resumed CFC campaign efforts, and members of the installation community are again invited to participate.

As of Oct. 22, CFC collections on Fort Huachuca have totaled $51,000, announced Master Sgt. Christopher Paluzzi, Fort Huachuca CFC installation coordinator.

“Now we need to step up the campaign to make this successful,” Paluzzi said. He encourages unit coordinators to keep talking to personnel in their units to ensure they donate.

“With the hardships from the recent government shutdown, people will be using the [CFC] charities a great deal,” Palluzzi said. “Now is the time to get the word out and encourage people to contribute.”
