Chapel Harvest Festival planned

The Fort Huachuca Religious Support Office is conducting its annual Children’s Harvest Festival 2 – 6 p.m. Saturday on the Main Post Chapel grounds. This year’s theme is “Bible Heroes Unmasked.” There will be games for children 4 – 12, a petting zoo, two bounce castles, a climbing wall, face painting, pumpkin decorating and barbecued burgers and hot dogs for all. Children must be accompanied by parents. Admission is free.

National Drug Take Back Day set

The Directorate of Emergency Services will host a collection site for the Drug Enforcement Agency’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday at the Post Exchange parking lot. This will be the third DES-hosted site on post.

HHC USAICoE Trunk-or Treat

Headquarters and Headquarters Company, U.S. Army Intelligence Center of Excellence, invites the entire Fort Huachuca community to their Trunk-or-Treat, Wednesday, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Kelly Operations Building on post. This free event also includes bouncy houses and other activities.

Marine Corps Birthday Ball set

The Marine Corps Detachment located at Fort Huachuca will celebrate the Marine Corps’ 238th birthday with a special Birthday Ball 6 p.m. – midnight Nov. 16 at the J.W. Marriot Starr Pass Resort in Tucson. The event is open to the public. Cost for active-duty Marines and Families is $20 per person (E1-E3), $30 per person (E4-E5), $40 (E6-E9) and $50 (O1 and above). Guests are $50. RSVP and purchase tickets no later than Nov. 4 at the Marine Detachment Headquarters Building 80405 (Willoughby Barracks) located in Prosser Village or by contacting Gunnery Sgt. Prep now for Green to Gold

The Army ROTC Green to Gold Division Commander’s Hip Pocket Scholarship Program provides selected Soldiers the opportunity to complete their baccalaureate degree requirements and obtain a commission through participation in the ROTC Scholarship program.

Each year division commanders can nominate deserving Soldiers for two-, three- and four-year Green to Gold scholarships. Units are encouraged to nominate Soldiers under their command who have exhibited the potential for further outstanding service to America and our Army as commissioned officers.

Interested Soldiers are encouraged to follow-up with their chain of command.

Interested Soldiers will need to download and complete the application forms along with the Hip Pocket Guide checklist. Application forms can be found at http://www.goarmy.com/rotc/enlisted_soldiers.jsp.

Leadership Reaction Course closure

The Leadership Reaction Course will be closed from Nov. 4 – Feb. 28, 2014, for maintenance.

Post-wide fall cleanup

Fort Huachuca will conduct its annual fall clean up and fire prevention effort through Nov. 1. Officials will emphasize proper trash, debris and combustible materials disposal. Organizations with training facilities located outside the cantonment area will conduct fire protection measures to help safeguard these resources from wildfires.

Units should encourage military personnel and civilian employees to participate. Motorists should watch out for personnel on the roads throughout the installation during the fall clean up and fire prevention process.

Native American Heritage celebration

Native American Heritage Month will be observed Nov. 1 – 30 with a celebration coordinated by Military Equal Opportunity Office personnel 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Nov. 26 at the Thunder Mountain Activity Centre. This event is designed to increase the cultural awareness of Fort Huachuca, the local community and will include a guest speaker, entertainment and a traditional food sampling. This free event is open to the public.
