Protect yourself — get your flu vaccine

Staff Sgt. Seneca Ratledge, Medical Department Activity, Fort Huachuca, watches as he receives the flu vaccine shot from Sgt. Randall McClellan, Medical Department Activity, Fort Huachuca, during the flu vaccination clinic for military members, Cochise Theater, Oct. 18. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends a yearly flu vaccine as the first and most important step in protecting against the flu virus.

There will be mass vaccination sites scheduled as vaccine supply becomes available. MEDDAC encourages people to use the mass vaccination sites for their annual flu shot so that staffing and supply can be organized. Mass vaccination sites will include Eifler Gym for the 111th Military Intelligence Brigade at a date to be determined.

The Soldier Centered Clinic tentatively 7:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Monday – Friday as vaccine becomes available to RWBAHC staff for all active duty personnel. The MI Student Clinic tentatively 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Monday – Thursday for student immunizations.

Beginning Nov. 1, the Main Health Center Flu Shot Clinic will open 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays for all TRICARE beneficiaries enrolled to RWBAHC 6 and older, as vaccine becomes available to RWBAHC.

Active duty personnel may call the Soldier Centered Clinic or MI Student Clinic to arrange other times. The latest update on clinic openings can be found on the flu hotline, 533.2997.

A Community Day is scheduled for 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. Thursday at Murr Community Center. All other active duty may receive their vaccinations at this event. All TRICARE beneficiaries enrolled with RWBAHC, older than 6 years of age to include Family members, retired active duty, Family members and Department of the Army civilian personnel can come to the Community Day event for the flu vaccination.
