Community, service members celebrate Veterans Day together

Col. Lisa Price, U.S. Army Intelligence Center of Excellence, served as guest speaker at the Veterans Day Ceremony Monday at Veterans’ Memorial Park. Price’s speech highlighted not only the history of the holiday but the importance active duty Soldiers and veterans have in the present and future.

The 501st Legion Dune Sea Garrison Arizona Chapter marches down Fry Boulevard in “Star Wars” costumes during the Veterans Day Parade Monday in Sierra Vista. The Lucasfilm-approved costume club received head-turning attention from spectators and was perhaps the most unique organization to participate in the parade.

The Buena High School Marching Colts perform upbeat, patriotic songs at the start of the 19th Annual Veterans Day Parade Monday in Sierra Vista. Other school marching bands participating in the parade included Colonel Smith Middle School Panther Marching Band and the Joyce Clark Middle School Marching Band from the Sierra Vista School District.

The Buena High School Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps marches in the 19th Annual Veterans Day Parade Monday in Sierra Vista. The students were one of 54 organizations to participate in the parade this year. Thousands of area residents came out to see the parade and celebrate and honor veterans.
