The Army Continuing Education System, or ACES, will observe American Education Week Monday through Nov. 22. This year’s Army’s theme, “Army Continuing Education — Strength and Resiliency through Education” supports the National Education Association’s theme, “Great Public Schools: A Basic Right and Our Responsibility.”

Visit the Education Center next week to learn about the programs available on Fort Huachuca.

The Fort Huachuca Education Center houses four different colleges/universities offering multiple education opportunities for Soldiers, civilians, Family members, and contractors. These schools provide advising services, and military students may have their military education evaluated for college credit in accordance with the American Council of Education recommendations.

Local schools offer classes each semester on post during lunch time, evening or weekend hours. These schools provide assistance in sending for transcripts from other colleges/universities and accept CLEP/DANTES exams.

Cochise College is the local community college and on-post provider of lower division courses.

Cochise College is Arizona’s largest rural community college and offers certificates and associate degrees in an eight- and 16-week format.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, or ERAU, is the oldest, largest, and most prestigious aviation and aerospace university in the world, and is the only fully accredited, aviation-oriented university in existence. ERAU offers bachelor and masters level programs.

Wayland Baptist University, or WBU, offers bachelor and masters programs in a variety of areas and has four 11-week terms. WBU has an articulation agreement with Cochise College to ease the transition process and also has a campus in Sierra Vista.

Personnel from each of these schools are available Monday – Friday at the Education Center to answer questions and assist potential students in achieving their education goals.
