State Route 92 construction update
Phase 2 of construction of raised medians on State Route 92, Sierra Vista is underway with construction of raised medians between Monsanto Drive and Canyon de Flores. Construction takes place weekdays, 6 a.m. – 3 p.m.
The posted speed limit through the work area will be reduced to 35 mph when crews are on site and 45 mph when crews are not working.

Keep vehicles locked
Due to recent automobile burglaries which all took place in unlocked vehicles, Sierra Vista Police Department officers remind residents to lock their cars and hide valuables.
MVC shares home decorating policy
Mountain Vista Communities officials remind Fort Huachuca housing residents that holiday decorations must be removed within two weeks after the holiday.
Use clips or tape to install lighting. Rooftop decorations are prohibited, and exterior lighting can only be used between 6 – 11 p.m.
Carefully inspect ornamental lighting to avoid fire, and check smoke alarms prior to using interior lighted decorations.

Emergency alert system improvement
Installation personnel are installing seven additional mass notification speaker systems, Giant Voice, at several locations around Fort Huachuca. As installation occurs and testing is conducted over the next few weeks, members will hear audible test noises emanating from the sites. Testing will be minimal.

Holiday ASAP training underway
Recently personnel from Army Substance Abuse Prevention, or ASAP, and Fort Huachuca organizations and tenant units held the annual Holiday Briefings.
All Fort Huachuca Soldiers and Department of the Army civilians who have not met their annual ASAP training requirements must log on to https://ikn.army.mil with their Common Access Card. Go to: Applications > Garrison Applications > Annual Training. This online training is available through Dec. 31.

5-104th Bn. to change command
The 5th Battalion-104th Regiment (Military Intelligence) will hold its change of command ceremony Saturday, 1 p.m. on Brown Parade Field.
Lt. Col. (P) Robert Wilkinson will relinquish command to Lt. Col. Richard Chmielewski, Jr.
The 5-104th MI Bn. is the largest of five battalions in the 1st Brigade, 100th Division. The 1st Brigade will be moving to Fort Huachuca in the fall of 2014, and all of its Reserve Component MI courses will move to Huachuca as part of the new One Army School System.
The public is invited to attend.
ACAP to hold job fair
Army Career and Alumni Program personnel will hold a job fair for transitioning personnel, veterans and Family members on Tuesday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Murr Community Center, Building 51303. Between 15 – 20 employers are expected, offering a variety of employment opportunities.

Voting Assistance Officer Training
Federal Voting Assistance Program officials will conduct an interactive Voting Assistance Workshop Tuesday, 1 – 3 p.m. in Fitch Auditorium, Alvarado Hall. Col. Jeffrey Jennings, chief of staff, U.S. Army Intelligence Center of Excellence, will present opening remarks. This is mandatory training for all installation and unit voting assistance officers, or VAOs.
The workshop will provide critical information, resources, and tools for the successful performance of VAO duties to help ensure voter success in participating in the electoral process.
JSOC recruiting team to visit
The Joint Special Operations Command Recruiting Team will conduct recruiting briefings on Fort Huachuca, Wednesday at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m., and Thursday, 3 p.m., in Cochise Theater.

SHARP training offered on Thursday
The Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Program, or SHARP, reinforces the Army’s commitment to eliminate incidents of sexual assault through a comprehensive policy that centers on awareness and prevention, training and education, victim advocacy, response, reporting and accountability. Army policy promotes sensitive care and confidential reporting for victims of sexual assault and accountability for those who commit these crimes.
Accordingly, the U.S. Army Garrison will host mandatory SHARP training on Thursday, 8 – 11:30 a.m. at Cochise Theater. Upcoming training in 2014 will take place on Jan. 23, Feb. 20 and Mar. 20. This training is open to all personnel on Fort Huachuca.

Office holiday party closures
The Civilian Personnel Action Center will be closed on Thursday for their annual holiday party, reopening at 7:30 a.m. on Dec. 13.
The Fort Huachuca Public Affairs Office will close at 11:30 a.m. Dec. 13 for their celebration.
PT event could delay traffic
A military Jingle Bell Jog will take place on Dec. 13 during regularly scheduled physical training from 6 – 7 a.m. Because of added traffic control features, the run could cause minor traffic congestion in the area adjacent to Davis Hall, Building 63920 and Hunt Street. Drivers should plan accordingly and leave a few minutes early.
21st Annual Historical Tour of Homes
The Fort Huachuca Community Spouses Club and the Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation Directorate present the 21st Annual Historical Tour of Homes Dec. 15, 1 – 5 p.m., along Brown Parade Field.
Tickets are $10 in advance or $12 the day of the event. They are available at the Sierra Vista Tourist Office, Sierra Vista Safeway, Fort Huachuca Museum, Apache Flats RV Park and from FHCSC board members. The tour takes place rain or shine.
No children under 10, backpacks or strollers are permitted. Photography is allowed inside the homes.
NCOA parking lot resurfacing
The Non-commissioned Officers Academy parking lot between Wilson Barracks and Ice Hall will be resurfaced Dec. 16 – 30. This will require traffic to Alvarado and Tallamadge Halls to re-direct to stop light on Cibique, the road between Wilson Barracks and Kelly Operations.
The Hatfield Road entrance to these buildings will be blocked during this time.
MVC hosts holiday gift wrapping
Mountain Vista Communities residents, 18 and older, are invited to enjoy hot cocoa and avoid having to hide presents from younger Family members at a Christmas present wrapping event Dec. 18, 1 – 6 p.m., at the MVC Community Center, 102 Davis.
MVC will provide boxes, wrapping paper, tape, bows, ribbon and tags, while supplies last.
No RSVP is required.

Prep now for Green to Gold
The Army ROTC Green to Gold Division Commander’s Hip Pocket Scholarship Program provides selected Soldiers the opportunity to complete their baccalaureate degree requirements and obtain a commission through participation in the ROTC Scholarship program. Each year division commanders can nominate deserving Soldiers for two-, three- and four-year Green to Gold scholarships. Units are encouraged to nominate Soldiers under their command who have exhibited the potential for further outstanding service to America and our Army as commissioned officers. Interested Soldiers are encouraged to follow-up with their chain of command.
