Sgt. Kalie Jones, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, U.S. Army Intelligence Center of Excellence, visits with students from Lorraine Draeger’s 3rd grade class to share information about Native Americans in November. The General Myer Elementary School staff thanks Jones for volunteering her time to help our students learn about Native American culture through sharing stories about her heritage and costume.

General Myer Elementary School

The peer mediators at General Myer Elementary School have been working hard during recess to help their peers with conflict. They have given up days of play time by performing this duty while putting others before themselves.

In their own way, each peer mediator shows signs of character each day when dealing with peers and adults. As a peer mediator, they are modeling how to mediate conflict. By doing so, other students have learned that it is sometimes easier for children to talk to their peers about a problem rather than be referred to an adult. As the mediators help others, they are also encouraged to handle their own conflicts in the same manner.

It is a privilege to have so many dedicated children who are willing to help and be responsible, and the staff appreciates them.
