RWBAHC Pharmacy to install new equipment, service disruption possible

Raymond W. Bliss Army Health Center Pharmacy personnel are working to streamline operations in order to become more efficient and effective. As part of the efforts to improve the overall pharmacy experience for customers, workers will install an updated automated dispensing system during the week of Jan. 20, the third week of this month. This updated system is designed to enhance medication safety and expedite the filling of patient prescriptions.

Installation during the week of Jan. 20 could cause delays in processing prescriptions and possibly result in longer customer wait times. The pharmacy will be closed the following Monday, Jan. 27, for equipment testing and training. Pharmacy officials apologize for the inconvenience, and ask for customer patience. Where possible, officials advise those who can to fill prescriptions early, before Jan. 18, or delay refilling until Jan. 28, or later, when the pharmacy resumes normal operation after equipment installation and staff training is complete.

Keep the following dates in mind when reviewing prescription needs:

  • Jan. 20: Martin Luther King Day Holiday — RWBAHC Pharmacy is closed.
  • Jan. 21 – 24: Pharmacy remodeling takes place. The pharmacy is open but construction may cause delays in filling prescriptions.
  • Jan. 25 – 26: The pharmacy is normally closed on weekends. New dispensing system installation and testing is scheduled for these dates.
  • Jan. 27: Pharmacy is closed for equipment testing and staff training on the new system.
  • Jan. 28: Pharmacy resumes normal operations.

“It is our honor to support the current and former military service members and their Families in the Fort Huachuca and Sierra Vista areas. This temporary inconvenience will allow us to better serve the community in the future,” said Col. Lance Raney, RWBAHC commander.
