USAREC requests recruiters return

Former detailed recruiters can earn a $4,000 bonus if they reclassify to military occupational specialty 79R, recruiter, and return to U.S. Army Recruiting Command. Noncommissioned officers must be a staff sergeant or sergeant, have less than 12 years time in service, and currently be in an over-strength or balanced MOS. Time of service as a 79R must be a minimum of 36 months.

Apply for FHCSC Scholarships

The Fort Huachuca Community Spouses’ Club is offering scholarships to graduating high school seniors and adults in continuing education. They are open to children and spouses of U.S. military members, Department of Defense Civilians, National Guard Members and Reservists assigned to Fort Huachuca, or Family members of retired or deceased military. Youth must be 26 or younger.

Scholarship forms for high school seniors are available through guidance counselors at area high schools. Applications are available for download on the club’s Web page, www.fthuachucaspouses.com.

Application submissions must be postmarked by March 8. Mail them to: FHCSC, P.O. Box 12202, Ft. Huachuca, AZ 85670.

Cochise County phone books available

A limited number of the new Cochise County telephone directories are available for pickup at the Official Mail and Distribution Center of the Directorate of Human Resources, U.S. Army Garrison, located in the back of Building 22408 at Christy Avenue and Butler Road. Pickup hours are 8 a.m. – noon and 1 – 4 p.m.

The telephone directories are for USAG directorates and staff offices and partner activities. They will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis.

DLA sets hours at Central Turn-in

The Defense Logistics Agency Disposition Services representative’s hours at the Central Turn-in Point have changed to Fridays only, between 8 – 11 a.m., or by appointment.

PWOC meet weekly

Protestant Women of the Chapel meet Tuesday, 9 – 11:30 a.m., at the Main Post Chapel. There is watch care available for children 6 months – 4 years old. There is also a Bible study on Tuesday evenings, 6 p.m., at Kino Chapel. Watch care is not available.

Commissary seafood sale

Commissary personnel are holding a Seafood and Salsa Sale today and Saturday during normal business hours inside the store. “We … have a large selection of seafood items at great prices,” said Judy Mendez, commissary manager.

“Our produce department is featuring all the fixings for salsa, and guacamole at rock-bottom prices just in time for Super Bowl.”

Military Powerlifting Competition

Active duty military are invited to compete in a Military Powerlifting Competition, Saturday, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Eifler Fitness Center. Registration is underway.

BOSS plans Super Bowl Party

Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers will hold a Super Bowl Party for Soldiers in advanced individual training and Families Sunday at Murr Community Center. Doors open at 2 p.m., and kick-off begins at 4:25 p.m. There will be free appetizers and popcorn, a pay-as-you-snack bar, an XBOX 360 and prize giveaway.

Suicide prevention — learn how

Army Substance Abuse Program personnel will present an Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training session Feb. 13 – 14, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at 434 Christy Ave., Building 22414.

ASIST is a two-day training designed to enhance a person’s ability to help someone at risk of suicide to choose safety-for-now. There are no prerequisites for the training. Uniform is appropriate civilian attire. For more information or to reserve a seat, call Jackie, 533.2071.

LSS Black Belt Course offered

The Electronic Proving Ground is sponsoring a Department of the Army Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Course, BB14029, on Fort Huachuca. Class dates are Week 1: Feb. 25 – 28; Week 2: March 25 – 28; Week 3: April 22 – 25; and Week 4: May 20 – 23.

Requirements for attendance: have your organization’s approval; have a project loaded in PowerSteering; and be registered in ATRRS. This course is open to all federal employees and active duty military. There is no out-of-pocket cost to attend.

Prep now for Green to Gold

The Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Green to Gold Division Commander’s Hip Pocket Scholarship Program provides selected Soldiers the opportunity to complete their baccalaureate degree requirements and obtain a commission through participation in the ROTC Scholarship program. Each year division commanders can nominate deserving Soldiers for two- , three- and four-year Green to Gold scholarships. Units are encouraged to nominate Soldiers under their command who have exhibited the potential for further outstanding service to America and the Army as commissioned officers. Interested Soldiers should to follow-up with their chain of command.
