Racers give their all during 2nd Sentinel Pursuit

Maj. Gen. Robert Ashley, commander, U.S. Army Intelligence Center of Excellence and Fort Huachuca, shakes Dalton Little’s hand after presenting him with the first-place ribbon in the 50 – 59 male category. Little, a frequent Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation Directorate volunteer with the Sports Division, has a friendly rivalry with Ashley concerning racing events. It is said they tend to run neck and neck. Little finished with a time of 38:31.

Both Jennings and Quinn were former 309th Military Intelligence Battalion commanders and came out to support the unit. Jennings (46:41) and Quinn (46:47) placed 2nd and 3rd, respectively, in the 50 – 59 male category.

Runners take their positions at the starting line. The 8K run started and ended on Hunt Avenue in front of Weinstein Village. Approximately 210 runners turned out for the event, ready to begin the 2nd 309th Military Intelligence Battalion Sentinel Pursuit 8K Run. It which began at 8 a.m. Saturday.

Lt. Col. Laura Knapp, 309th Military Intelligence Battalion commander, awards Robert Finicum with the first-place overall male trophy following the 2nd 309th Military Intelligence Battalion Sentinel Pursuit 8K Run Saturday on Hunt Road. Finicum finished with a time of 26:26. The top three overall winners received a trophy. The top three finishers in each age category received a medal.

The Bosarge Family displays their awards after Saturday’s run on Fort Huachuca. Jonathan Bosarge placed 3rd in the 30 – 39 male category with a time of 34:14. Jennifer Bosarge placed first overall female, completing the race in 33:07. Jonathan pushed their son, Adam, 2, in a running stroller while Jennifer set a blistering pace.

Brian Hayes races across the finish line on Hunt Road during the 2nd 309th Military Intelligence Battalion Sentinel Pursuit 8K Run Saturday. Hayes placed second overall male with a time of 27:24.
