FH Exchange ‘Buddies’ exclusive offers

The Army & Air Force Exchange Service is making it easier for Fort Huachuca shoppers to exercise their Exchange benefit via the Internet.

The Fort Huachuca Exchange’s Buddy List enables military shoppers to be among the first to find out about exclusive savings, promotions, events and special offers at the Exchange.

Register to receive exclusive emails. All information will remain private and not be shared or sold to anyone else.

The weekly Buddy List delivers emails about worldwide and local promotions to approximately 233,000 authorized shoppers. Customers interested in receiving these messages can sign up at the Fort Huachuca Exchange or online at www.shopmyexchange.com/ExchangeStores/buddy.htm.

AER Campaign underway

The 2014 Army Emergency Relief Campaign is underway through May 15. The AER fund is the Army’s own financial assistance organization and is dedicated to “helping the Army take care of its own.” AER funds are available to provide emergency financial assistance to Soldiers, active and retired, and their dependents whenever there is a valid need.

The unit representatives’ goal is 100 percent contact, and they will be meeting with Fort Huachuca personnel over the coming weeks.

Weinstein Award nominations due

The U.S. Army Intelligence Center of Excellence is accepting nominations for the 2014 Lt. Gen. Sidney T. Weinstein Award for Excellence in Military Intelligence. Nominations will be accepted through Monday. Mail complete nomination packets to Command Historian, ATTN: LTG Sidney T. Weinstein Award, U.S. Army Intelligence Center of Excellence, 1889 Hatfield St., Building 62723, Fort Huachuca, AZ 85613-7000. Soft copy nominations may also be emailed to lori.s.tagg.civ@mail.mil.

Women’s history observance set

The Military Equal Employment Opportunity Office will host the Women’s History Month Observance Thursday, 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., at the Thunder Mountain Activity Centre. BOSS to hold March Madness

Fort Huachuca Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers hosts March Madness on the court at Eifler Fitness Center March 22, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. The 3-on-3 tournament tipoff is at 11 a.m., and the 3-point shootout starts at 1:30 p.m. The cost is $5 per 3-on-3 team and $2 per person for the 3-point shootout. In addition to bragging rights, winners walk away with medals and prizes. The competition is open to active duty military, retirees and Family members 16 and older.  For more information, call 538.8252.

5K Run/Walk planned

Join residents of the Cavalry Park and Bonnie Blink housing areas as they face off at the Community Health Promotion Council monthly 5K Run/Walk March 29, 8 a.m., at Grierson Pool. The housing area with the most participants will hold a rotating trophy for one month. All finishers receive ribbons, and strollers and leashed dogs are welcome. Support Bonnie Blink by wearing red and Cavalry Park by wearing blue.

Preregister kindergarten students

Parents living on post (only) should plan to preregister kindergarten students for the 2014 – 2015 school year March 24 – 28 from 8:30 a.m. at Colonel Johnston Elementary School. Children must be 5 years old before Sept. 1 to enroll at Johnston for the coming school year.

Parents will still need to come in for regular registration at the end of July.

ASP to close for inventory

The Ammunition Supply Point, Building 13524, will be closed for inventory March 26 – 28. For emergency requirements, call 533.2512.

Walk to show respect

A “Walk of Respect” to promote and support Fort Huachuca’s Sexual Harassment/Assault Reponse and Prevention Program will take place April 2, 6 a.m., at Warrior/Sentinel Field on post. The public is invited to participate. There is no charge.

NETCOM to hold Assumption of Command Ceremony

The Network Enterprise Technology Command will hold an Assumption of Command ceremony in the Greely Hall auditorium April 2, at 9 a.m. Brig. Gen. Peter Gallagher, NETCOM acting commanding general, will relinquish command to Brig. Gen. John Morrison Jr. His previous assignment was as the commanding general for the 7th Signal Command (Theater), Fort Gordon, Ga.

Everyone is invited to attend the ceremony.

FHCSC to hold golf scramble

The Fort Huachuca Community Spouses Club will hold its 9th Annual Golf Scramble April 12, beginning at 8:30 a.m., at the Mountain View Golf Course at the intersection of Buffalo Soldier Trail and Wilcox Drive. The $70 entry fee includes golf fees, cart for two, lunch, hospitality bag, unlimited driving range and opportunity ticket. Military Child Celebration planned

The month of April is the Army’s designated Month of the Military Child. During April, Army garrisons worldwide will host events and celebrations designed to recognize the sacrifices military children make and the support they provide to their Soldier-parent(s) and Families.

The Directorate of Family, Morale, Welfare and Recreation will host the annual Celebrating the Military Child event on April 12, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Thunder Mountain Activity Centre to focus on celebrating and honoring military children and their contributions. This free event is open to the Fort Huachuca and surrounding communities.

Installation spring cleanup set

Fort Huachuca will conduct its annual Spring Cleanup and Fire Prevention Operations from April 14 – 24 to improve the appearance of the installation, clean areas of responsibility and prepare for the upcoming fire season. Organizations with training facilities located outside of the cantonment area will conduct fire protection measures to help safeguard these resources from wildfires. Commanders and directors should encourage Civilian employees to participate.

Motorists should drive carefully when passing individuals or groups working along or near roadways.

The cleanup day for single Soldier quarters and Family housing is April 23.

All Army Boxing coming in April

Fort Huachuca will host the All Army Boxing Camp and Championships from April 14 – May 10 at the Barnes Field House gymnasium. The boxing camp will prepare Soldiers from installations worldwide for the All Army Boxing Championship. Soldiers who compete and win the All Army boxing championships will compete in the Armed Forces Boxing Championships.

The All Army Boxing championship bouts are open to all military, Department of the Army Civilians, Family members and the general public.  For information, call 533.3246.

Observe Passover on post

Join Fort Huachuca’s Jewish Community for Passover Observance April 14, 6:30 p.m., in the activities room at the Main Post Chapel, Building 52060, at the corner of Smith and Hatfield. Partake in a Kosher-style dinner. Suggested donation is $15 at the door.  For reservations, call 533.4748.

Attend Easter Sunrise Service

The Fort Huachuca Religious Support Office will conduct the annual Easter Sunrise Service on April 20, 6:30 a.m. at Reservoir Hill. Everyone is invited 2014. The service provides an opportunity for people to meet and worship in a unique setting for this significant religious observance.

Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony, Banquet

Army Community Service will host its annual Volunteer Appreciation Ceremony and Banquet, April 22, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., at the Thunder Mountain Activity Centre to recognize Fort Huachuca volunteers.  For information, contact 533.3107 or Jennifer.n.tickert.naf@mail.mil.

Leave donations sought

The following Department of the Army Civilians are in need of leave donations due to medical emergencies: Janet Hodap, Carolyn Lamm, Sandra Smith, Jessenia Caban and Heidi Broedel.

Employees interested in donating should complete OPM Form 630-A, “Request to Donate Annual Leave to Leave Recipient Under the Voluntary Leave Transfer Program.” A copy of this form may be found at http://www.opm.gov/Forms/PDF_FILL/OPM630a.pdf.

Upon completion, forward a copy of the form to Francisca Lopez, Fort Huachuca Civilian Personnel Advisory Center. For more information, call 533.0069.

USAREC requests recruiters return

Former detailed recruiters can earn a $4,000 bonus if they reclassify to military occupational specialty 79R, recruiter, and return to U.S. Army Recruiting Command. Noncommissioned officers must be a staff sergeant or sergeant, have less than 12 years time in service, and currently be in an over-strength or balanced MOS. Time of service as a 79R must be a minimum of 36 months.  For more information, see your career counselor.

The 2014 Fort Huachuca telephone directories are available at the Fort Huachuca Public Affairs Office, 3015 Carnahan, Building 21115, across from the Gazebo on Brown Parade Field, from 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Those who need more than 12 copies should call 533.1283 to arrange for quantity pickup.
